TNT (or TBS?) started rerunning the Angel series yesterday with the series premiere. I was afraid I remembered it as better than it really was, but I thought it held up very well. Observations:

1. Man, Boreanez is HOT!

2. Man, Cordelia is HOT! Pre-haircut, pre-implants, ALL CHEEKBONE!

3. I miss Doyle.

4. Classic ending--"Can you fly?"

5. I sincerely hope that Angel gets back a little to the episodic first season--find a problem, solve it, end the plot in one show. I'm all for the dramatic, building story, but last season was all about the Apocalypse. I'm a little worn out by all the BIG, BIG stories (kind of how I feel about Legion right now).

6. I'm also not sure that I don't prefer a smaller cast. Keep Wesley, Gunn dies a heroic death midseason, Fred stays, thank God Connor's gone.

7. How is the series going to go on without Cordy? It makes me sad.

The only consistent feature of all of your dissatisfying relationships is you.

Don't judge me!

Upon seeing the first episode again, I hadn't realized (or forgot) Wolfram & Heart was always a part of the show.

It was interesting to see that the premise of the show was partly for Angel to get involved with other people's lives and therefor gain a little more humanity. Since then, he's gathered this little family around him which helps, but he's also too self-involved. He's still just as isolated from the outside world and the people in it.

I'm also glad that Connor's gone (if only "Buffy" had ditched Dawn after her storyline had run its course). I'm sad to see Cordy go, but I never believed her and Angel as a couple.

Spike will likely bring some tension (hopefully, the Gunn/ Wes/ Fred love triangle will be done with), and I'm guessing Harmony will be there to offer the off-the-wall insensitive comment here and there (like Cordy, Anya and Andrew used to do on "Buffy").

And yes, from what I read the series will be more episodic rather than epic like last season.
