So, I just got a phone call from a friend. He had a spare ticket for this Friday night to see the "Full Monty" at the Ogunquit Playhouse. It's starring Sally Struthers (who I'm hoping does not do the full monty). It should be fun. I've seen local theater before, but never anything with a traveling company and a celebrity name.

Actually, Sally Struthers plays the Ogunquit Playhouse every year, I think.

First you see Margot Kidder at the Boston Wizard World, and now Sally Struthers. Who would make a trifecta? Barbara Eden? Meredith Baxter (no longer -Birney)? Catherine Bach?

Seriously, do have fun at the play.

Actually, I've been watching reruns of Still Standing on Lifetime, and have come to a new appreciation of Sally in recent years. Whoda thunk? smile

I saw her as Miss Hannigan in "Annie" a ways back, and she was quite good. I've also heard good things about this production, though I can't remember where or I'd include the link. It's a fun show, though, definitely one of my favorites of recent vintage.

Well, I saw the Full Monty Friday night, and I really enjoyed it. The cast was excellent, both in acting and singing abilities. Sally Struthers definitely was the star, and drew the biggest laughs and applause playing a chain-smoking, wise cracking, gravel voiced rehearsal pianist. And any play that starts out with a hot guy doing a striptease is aces in my book wink The only too bad part was that the play was supposed to have Adrian Zmed in it, but I guess he wasn't there so there was another guy playing his part.

My only advice: if you ever go to a theater with narrow seats, make sure that the seat next to you isn't occupied by a really fat guy, otherwise you're gonna have part of him in your lap the whole night wink

I'm glad you had a good time.

So do they really give you the full monty in the play?

Well, you saw a lot of bare butts, and there were lots of underwear and g-string scenes. At the end, when they did the full monty, they turn back to the audience, remove their undies, and turn to face the audience with hats covering themselves. And, just when they start to lift their hats, a wall of stage lights come on behind them, so you don't actually see anything. I couldn't even say for certain if they were actually nekkid or if they were wearing pouches.

Speaking of the theater, anyone watching the MTV broadcast of "Legally Blonde, the Musical" this weekend? I think it is tomorrow (10/13) at 1:00 PM Eastern.
