I've seen his name thrown around for awhile now by fans. Never mind the casting rumor, since when was a Green Lantern movie even in the works? (I know they've been trying to develop it forever, but have they moved beyond that?)

That's pretty friggin' cool! Much better than the other GL fan trailers I've seen.
Fans have certainly liked throwing Fillion's name around for Hal Jordan and I've always thought it would be cool as well though highly unlikely.

Oooh, nice work. I was torn between him and Bradley Cooper in the final three they were considering. (Justin Timberlake should never have been in contention.)
I was actually leaning toward Bradley Cooper, but maybe he'll be able to do Flash now. I could see him in that.
I really think they should have sought Nathan Fillion for Green Lantern, though.

Yeah, Ben Browder or Nathan Fillon would have been a better fit IMO. But Ryan Reynolds = yum!

I think Browder and Fillion are a little too genre-specific. Like many, my initial reaction was to be apprehensive about Reynolds's past in comedic roles, but that's what they thought about Michael Keaton as Batman too. Not my first choice, but I can see him doing well if the script is good.

Drake, check out the amityville remake or Smokin' Aces. The boy can do drama as well. And he played a very realistic albeit subdued character in Definately, Maybe. I know its a chick flick, but the writer also did Love, Actually and that was great little film. Reynolds will be fine, though I must admit I was hoping for a Fillian GL. I think it would have rocked.

Reynolds was in "Smokin' Aces?" That movie was such a blur of nonsensical action I don't even remember him being in it. Wasn't Common in that? That'd put Hal Jordan and (almost) John Stewart in the same movie!
I saw "Definitely, Maybe" and enjoyed him in that and he was good as a more badass kinda guy in "Blade III." So, yeah - I think he'll be fine as well. My two main concerns now are the script and (to a much lesser degree) how the GL uniform will look.

Soooo... all CG costume hm? I hope he doesn't end up looking too Dr Manhattan-y. It almost seems like a waste that Mr Reynolds already has a great physique only to have a CG uniform painted on a green-screen suit. (although I still imagine we'll see Hal sans uniform anyway in some capacity)
Do we know when to expect any kind of footage to be released or screened?
