This was a terrific episode. If Matthew Fox doesn't get nominated for an Emmy, it'll be a travesty.

I found his scene with Sawyer almost unbearably touching. The Jin/Sun scene was a good one, too. And what about the dog swimming out after 'his' kid? *Sniff*

In fact, I thought the scene of the boat/raft launching was powerful. It had nothing to do with the ongoing story (or did it?), but it made me think about our ancestors a couple of thousand years ago striking out onto various seas for the first time... probably with much less than these folk. Much less knowledge, most likely. But as much, or more, courage.

Did anyone watch the news special that featured LOST a few weeks ago? 20/20 maybe- or one of it's clones? The one tidbit I took away from that was the revelation that the orchestra plays music to the show (already edited, I think- though I'm not positive about that) live... You can tell; there's an extra 'something' to the music that isn't there for other series. A poignancy.

It was a great episode. I was so thrilled with the Jack/Sawyer scene and it redeemed Sawyer a lot in my eyes. I was expecting the reasoning behind Sun's working on the raft but the full revelation was excellent. The background on Kate was very touching -though we still don't know the real reason for her running in the first place.
We learned just how much of a witch Boone's sister can be. I guess her and Sayed are still on the outs. I had begun to like her but she makes me so conflicted. I guess that's the thing about this show, none of them are completely black and white... they all have some good and bad traits.

Though I don't know why I bother posting on here. Every single post I've made (except for the confusion of who's coming back in Rann Thanagar war) -has been completely ignored. I don't know if I just jumped into the community without properly introducing myself or if its just my posts really have no significance whatsoever. I suppose I'll just go back to being an off-and-on lurker.

Which means he'll probably do something really stinky in the finale... smile I have to like Sawyer-- he's the only character I can think of who's from my hometown of Knoxville.

I hope we find out soon... I suspect it'll be a 'good girl in the wrong place at the wrong time' kind of thing. Though I think I'd prefer it if she did something really, really bad of her own volition.

I can't stand her either. Like you, I started to warm up to her a bit in her scenes with Sayed (who's *way* too good for her)... maybe she'll form a bond with the dog that'll make her a bit more likeable.

I'm sorry you've felt ignored... don't stop posting though-- sometimes it takes a while to break through the 'noise'. If you feel it might be worth it. You seem very insightful, so I hope you continue to post.

The Jack/Sawyer scene was touching, but you'd think Jack could muster a little "thank you" for basically resolving the most painful question of Jack's life! wink

The scene with Sun and Jin was also touching. From the beginning they seemed like such a cold couple and Jin might've been the least likable of the bunch. But he's come a long way - through the flashbacks that fleshed him out now resolving things with Sun. Maybe he'll get to speak some english next season!

I can't even get into the big mysteries - there's so much there! Can't wait for next week! (it's gonna be a long summer...)

There's an awful lot of us here posting, and everyone wants to get their own opinions out. Posting on a message board is often less like a conversation than a bunch of people talking. Don't let it bother you!

let me just write things down as they come...

Artz dieing so suddenly.- sorta cheap death but effective

The others!

Kim's interlude in the bathroom. Heavy!

The beast or the island security system. What the heck? The smoke? That sound?

The raft. The boat coming for them.

They want the boy. That's what the smoke said.

Hello the hatch! The ladder into nothing!

Hello Charlie! No Charlie! Don't pickup the Virgin Mary!

They talk about the island! Punishment for secrets? Fate?

Holy Sh*t! What a great season finale!

Cobie I missed it too (because of American Idol) but ABC is repeating it Saturday night. So set your VCR or TiVo and record it before you hit the bars. laugh

Just remembered more....

Hurley has a very long flashback about him getting to Flight 815. Pay very close attention to all the background details and what he says.

Cobie - if you can't wait then you can go to ABC.com, they have a Lost section that has pretty decent recaps. They omit some things and have been known to have scenes that seemingly didn't make the televised cut.

Personally, I feel a little underwhelmed. I didn't really hate it or anything, but neither will I be on pins and needles all summer.

FYI - Good Morning America was supposed to show a deleted scene this morning. I set it to tape so I'll report back for those of you who won't have it.

Really? I was screaming at the tv. It answered enough of my questions and set up a lot of stuff for season two. It had some great cliffhangers and some great new questions for season two.

Outside of the things dealing with the rafting expedition, the rest of it was somewhat predictable to me. The only real twist was the switch and bait with the "others" objective. Assuming that's who we really saw. (If they were "the others" then I don't think Ethan was one of them.)

The flashback with Jin in the restroom was also a big surprise... I really, really hope he's back next year. Shannon's continued troubles over Boone's death was another nice moment. Really, the mystery stuff appeals to me less than the characters and how they interplay. (Sort of like the current Legion reboot.)

Yeah I was a little underwhelmed as well, I thought the way they ended it with the hatch was absolutely horrible, they should have at least had some sort of a cliffhanger with it, rather than just a variation of more of the same.

The boat-napping was creepy as hell, albeit ridiculously far-fetched, you couldn't help but feel you were on tha raft with them. The potential re-treading of Charlie's downslide is a yawner.

I was happy to see Arst blow up though, lol. (and it was fun watching his annoying slef pop up in many of the flashbacks. smile )

Just read a run-down of it and damn, I'm wishing I didn't miss it.

Hell, I wish I didn't miss the first 12 or 15 episodes! CAN'T WAIT for the season DVD.

So, we never see what's in the hatch?

Vu, what happens in Hurley's flashbacks?

Can someone give me a rundown on what Hurley's connection/thoughts on the numbers are (and your own)?

Jeepers, I'm needier than my g/f on her B-Day!

Hurley's hotel room number was 2342.

When Hurley was driving his rental car, it blew a a tire and all the numbers showed up on the big guy's dashboard.

As he runs through the airport, he offers a guy $1600 in exchange for his scooter.

Gate 23 was where Flight 815 leaves.

An entire girls sports team with numbered uniforms, all in a row.

When he gets to the gate, they allow him to board. He sees Walt, give him a wink and then sIts down, puts on his head phones and pulls out Flash/Green Lantern: Fast Friends and turns to the page wiht the polar bear.

OTHER SIGNFICANCE

Kate was betrayed by the man for $23,000

Jack's seat was seat 23.

That other girl was 42.

Walt's birthday is 8/15.

The safety deposit box where Kate goes?

I think it'd be cool if next season the guys on the raft ended up on another island where it turns out the other passengers of flight 815 have been living. Then from now on just have the focus switch from one island to the other every six months -- year round "Lost" with no breaks!

Well it looks the Michelle Rodriguez has offically joined the cast for next season.

Remember, she was the girl (Anna Lucia) that was shown to be flirting with Jack at the Airport bar.
She had the seat in the tail section. I guess Bone was right when he heard "No, we are the survivors of Flight 7815."

The tail section did survive, Rose will be reuinated with her husband, and someone else will be killed off. Apparently one of the guys is very unhappy wiht his contract and will be killed off. No more flashback scenes even.

I found this on the Oceanic-air website -- did anyone find any other interesting tidbits? (and who's "Sally?")

If anyone should find this message, please get word I'm alive and stranded on an island somewhere in the South Pacific. Please send help soon. Things are bad. And they're getting worse...

Sally

edit -- ok, I've found some other stuff: the script page for Exodus pII (mapinguari? Is that what's on the "explore mysterious australia" poster?) and another message from one of the "lost"....

edit -- I also found the questionnaire and signed up for the newletter thingie. Did I miss anything?

Did you try the different passenger seats on the seating chart? Corresponding with the recurring numbers? Those yeild some little tidbits.
