Did the original count include the people who survived the immediate crash ie, the Marshall and the swimmer who drowned early on? There was also the red shirt that Ethan killed so counting Boone 4 of the immediate survivors have now died, I believe. I don't know if they counted the pilot in the lists.

Also, I read yesterday that Michelle Rodriguez from "Girlfight" etc., will be in the finale along with the new character played by Daniel Roebuck, who's on for the last three eps. I read that his character is named Mr. Artz, but I didn't see it sourced to anything.

Not yet. We had to do the American Idol thing first. I'll probably sit down and watch it this weekend.

I saw it. Not bad. The Sayid flashback material wasn't all that compelling for me personally but it was nice to see some forward movement on some of the many threads. The B-story with the baby was amusing. Any time we see Sawyer wearing his reading glasses will probably get a laugh out of me.

I'm a big fan of Sayid, so I'm all for more on his backstory. His first flashback gave us some idea of the conscientous guy he is on the island. This one showed us how he could be rather self-centered as well.

The shooting wasn't all that surprising, and I was worried the way it was promoted... But big kudos to the writeres for how it actually went down and it's ramifications.

I laughed at Charlie's Babysitters Club. Nice to see some humour despite all that's happening.

We learned who knocked Sayid out during the triangulation attempt. Tho' the reasoning seemed more afterthought than plotted out.

And the hatch isn't a secret anymore!

Just spouting off.

The 'reason' behind Sayid's getting knocked out during the triangulation set-up made Locke look like a loon.

How many people has he cold-cocked, now?

Hmmm- they wasted an opportunity here... the French woman could've been made to seem like Sayid's hallucination... just like Boone's vision of Shannon when Locke knocked *him* out unceremoniously.

I'm ready to find out what's in the dang hatch... and to see who else is on that island... and why.

I think maybe aliens are involved, one way or another... but won't be the *cause* of everything that's going on.

Strange how Sayid seems to becoming the most capable and intelligent guy on the island while Locke and the good Doctor seem to be losing it. I'm starting to believe that he may be the most compelling character on the show.

Several of the others met her during the Hurley flashback, and Hurley in particular gave her a big bear hug because she saw eye-to-eye with him about the cursed numbers.

More "little kid acting weird" stuff--how DID he know about the hatch?

My assumption, if I were stranded on an island in the South Pacific and discovered something that looked like that, would be that it was involved in nuclear testing. Both the US and France detonated atomic weapons in that area

Aside: As a teacher, the monsoon guy was hilarious. "Does anyone know what that means?"

So what did Kate do? We've seen her do some shady things, but nothing that would generate that much fear from her mother or that kind of shoot to kill mentality shown by the cops. There's still something lurking in her back story. She certainly is not a black and white character--although she has done some altruistic things, her actions resulting in the death of her ex (a father and a husband) were selfish and self-serving.

Not black and white? What a concept! May the show go on for years to come.

So what's in the hatch? Do you think it could be a giant plug and if they open it, the sea will rush in and sink the island? laugh

What's in hatch? Could it be .... SATAN?!?! (I'm not entirely joking either... who says 4 8 15 16 23 42 can't be the real number of the beast?)

That sounds right to me. I agree with the people that say that the island is purgatory. The hatch would then be the entrance to hell...

Oh blech. Please let this not be some kind of pseudochristian poop. I would be disappointed. Hasn't someone definitively said that this is NOT purgatory?

I don't think it is personally. If the only way to get out of purgatory is to drown or be shot or crushed in a falling airplane then I'd say that's a pretty stern vision of purgatory.

That Kate, what a bad girl she is. And now she's dragging Sun down with her too!!! Bad Kate!

I used to think it might be Purgatory, but it's been said too many times and I think they've actually said it's not purgatory, or in someone's mind - that this stuff is "really happening" for what it's worth.

But that doesn't mean Satan's not in the box...

I think I know what's in the Hatch.

Its.... RICHARD HATCH!!!!!

When they open the hatch, he's gonna jump out in all his nude glory.

Hello -this show is a take-off of Survivor. Richard Hatch was the first Survivor.

Makes perfect sense to me... wink

Holy shit that was a good episode. The secrets keep on coming and the story is really progressing. I knew it'd be good once I saw they were doing flashbacks for different people.

Still kicking myself that I came on late to this series!

So...42 on the island.

Boone dies, baby is born. Still 42.

Four leave the island- 38, and I'm guessing one more will die (the high school teacher? most likely...), which makes it 37, the number of the crew the French women was a part of. Am I correcting that right? Opinions?

Also - passenger 42 talking to Jack. She was *definately* something more than what she appeared!

High school teacher is a confirmed cast memeber for next season...but that could be a red herring

Your right about 42 -that's Michelle Rogeriduez of Girlfight fame.

Lots of answers about Kate flashbacks, they now fit togthere.

Also Jack used to be married!

Did Sayid lose something in his bag that could have been important?

We learn Sawyers real name!

We see the Black Rock ---a pirate ship?!

Best seen between Sawyer and Jack. Gut wrenching.

Can't wait for next week!

The scene with Jin and Sun was very good too. I really hope he makes it back to her. I just have a bad feeling about the party on the raft.

Yeah, I feel like Swayer may be a goner after going on the raft and his talk with Jack...

and 42? What seat number was Jack?

and what are Hurley's Lotto numbers?

to spooky...

But Sawyer (or Ford) is so popular with the ladies in viewer land, right? Although for storytelling purposes he hasn't got as much potential as Jin/Sun or Michael/Walt in my opinion. I like having the married couple and father/son dynamics in the mix. Still, Sawyer is such a likable rascal, isn't he?
