Wow, Erasure is re releasing Oh L'AMour. And they've remixed it for radio play. SOund clips can be heard here. http://www.erasureinfo.com/index.html My favorite is the Carston Krueyer Mix, very modenr updating of this song. I know, I'm a freak. But if you like them, or EVER liked them, give it a listen...

Oh L'amour is a standout song from a band with a plethora of great songs.
I'm amazed that I haven't long-ago purchased both the Erasure and Pet Shop Boys' GREATEST HITS cds... prolly because I have 'em all (or most of 'em) on separate CDs or cassettes... but it would be fun to have all the hits on 1 disc...

I love Erasure. Anyone who looks at my music collection and sees the complete Erasure, Pet Shop Boy and OMD immediately pegs me. To me, it all brings back some of the best times in my life.

Actually, they are very underrated...
I just wish more people would listen to them so they could get a little mainstream recognition...

If not sure if they are releasing the single here in the US though, it's times like these I wish I lived in the UK...

Erasure is awesome! One of the first guys I ever had a real crush on introduced me to Erasure during breaks at McDonald's while I was in high school. If only I'd really listened to the words at the time and figured out what he may have been trying to tell me! I didn't really starting listening to they lyrics until after I'd quit. Ah, well. It's for the best. I may not have ever met my hubby if I'd started coming out that early. But "Oh l'Amour" was the song. And then "Chains of Love" came out shortly after -- at least in relation to my becoming a fan. Ooh, I think I need to listen to my "Pop" CD now! Eric

Don't forget about the new version at the website above. They are just one minute snippets, but they rock!

Seymor, that story was cute! Yes, your little McDonald's co-worker was definitely trying to tell you something! *sigh* Young crushes are so sweet!
Danny, I'm sure Erasure has had several charted Top 40 hits in the UK, but what about the US?
I know CHAINS OF LOVE and A LITTLE RESPECT hit Top 40 here but is that it? Do you have any info on the chart numbers of their songs?

I know Always hit the top 40 here as well but I think that is really it.
The radio stations don't really play them much. They consistently hit the top 10 in
I do know that their Solsbury Hill remake got alot of club play here in the US earlier this year. And I'm hoping that Oh L'Amour does too.
This one has arrived!

Erasure had two top 40 hits in the US in the 1980's. Chains of Love peaked at # 12 in 1988. A Little Respect peaked at #14 in 1989. To check for you favorite 80's groups and the chart success in the US you should check out this site.

And ALways hit the top #20 at #20 in 1994. Scott, that's a great site, but it didn't include their hits after 1990.

Thanks for the info and the site, Scooter!
Wow, I'm surprised ALWAYS charted that high. I mean it is a good song (I'm listening to it now!) but I remember liking LOVE TO HATE YOU and BREATH OF LIFE more...
Still, the cd I SAY I SAY I SAY is probably better than WILD! or CHORUS.
It's hard to resist I LOVE SATURDAY and MIRACLE.

A LITTLE RESPECT, CHAINS OF LOVE, YAHOO!, WHEN I NEEDED YOU, RIVER DEEP MOUNTAIN HIGH... but WEIGHT OF THE WORLD is my favorite one to sing along with!

WOW Kara, how helpful!
You mean NONE of the Pet Shop Boys' 90s releases hit the Top 40? Not So Hard? Not Absolutely Fabulous??? Not Where the Streets Have No Name/Can't Take My Eyes off of You?!?!? *sigh!*
OMD had more hits than I remember. My favorite song by them is Goddess of Love but it wasn't a single.
How 'bout BOOK OF LOVE. Did they ever score a Top 40 hit?
Also I am curious about the 5 releases by BLACK BOX from the fantastic DREAMLAND cd, specifically EVERYBODY EVERYBODY, STRIKE IT UP, I DON'T KNOW ANYBODY ELSE, their astounding remake of FANTASY and the absolutely incredible RIDE ON TIME.
Black Box and C&C Music Factory used Martha Wash and Loleatta Holloway up and then spit them out!
I remember going to a BLACK BOX concert years ago. When they took the stage I about freaked. I was all, "I dunno who this skinny bitch up there is, but I paid to see either 1 of 2 or BOTH 400 pound women singing their lungs out!!!!" And of course, they didn't touch any of the releases from DREAMLAND....

Of course, I bet the UK charts read quite different for PSB! Same with Erasure, though.
