Tut. Why do some people want a gay Legionnaire? Won't that be cured by the 30th century? I mean, you can just take pills and have a sex change.

So I hope he won't be a poofter. Maybe he'll be a huge big android!

I'm hoping he comes back as a shrinking snake. Then he can be gay too, just to make it interesting.

I almost forgot that I was the first one to predict that Gim's new origin would be that he accidentally swallowed a funny meteorite which landed in his breakfast cereal!

Hey jee whiz fellas, knock it off. You guys don't really want to see poor Gim written goofy, or even killed off, do you ... (nervous laugh)?

I'd like to see him at 50 ft high pounding some of these Kryptonian-power level jerks like Ultra Boy and Mon-el and Validus thru some walls every once in a while. He's already been killed off or crippled in EVERY Single Version of the Legion that's been out (yes, starting back in Adventure by the Doll Man). That's worse luck than even Lightning Lad has had to endure. Let's give him a break this time around with some quality action and character time!

Agreed on the pounding, actually. I wouldn't mind seeing his strength and durability at near-Kryptonian levels when he's full size. Makes him less of a walking target, and nicely balanced by how carefully he has to move when he's huge.

I'm really looking forward to any action sequences on his planet...

It's encouraging that Mark and Barry actually put some thought into him before putting him in the book this time. It's not like the sixties where obviously Mort thought, "I guess I ought to put a giant in a cowboy outfit in the group to look dynamic." and then paid little or no attention to him afterward except as background filler for group shots.

So far I'm liking this new Colossal Boy/Micro Lad, he has an independant attitude and maintains his 'boyish charm' but still has that undercurrent of personal responsibility. He's still a "good soldier", another mainstay of his character.

"You suggesting I hide?" came across a bit like the SP had pushed one of his buttons. Maybe Gim or his people have some kind of phobia about deception and disguise?

I would really like to see a "rebirth" of the "Colossal Boy"/Duplicate Boy rivalry. They never really liked one another (or rather never had a reason to even communicate) except when they finally came to blows over Vi...or so they thought. Matter of fact, that was their second fight in the preboot. The two "titans" fought when the LSH first met the Heroes of Lallor way back when. it would be great to bring Vi back into their lives, so it would create some sort of rift between the two. The last time Gim pretty much had his butt handed to him. Ultra Boy had to come to his rescue. It turned out the fight was for nothing because Vi was actually Yera. Duplicate Boy turned out to be the true loser in that mess!

Also think Gim should be the next one to have an issue to himself (basically) like Triplicate Girl.

Speaking of Dupe Boy, it'd be pretty pointless for any "power-swiping" enemy to duplicate or steal Gim's powers, wouldn't it? smile What kind of power would Nemesis Kid have to come up with to counter "Micro Lad?"

I read the title of this thread and my first thought was the guy from the movie Airplane. Lloyd bridges hands him a sheet of paper and asks what he can make of it, and he replies along the lines of "I can make a swan, or a flower..." meaning origami. But it was just a perfectly placed smartass response.

I made me wanna make one here, but honestly...i can't think of one.

How about a super-duper shrinking ability, Rurouni KJS? poke Ha ha ha! wink

Actually, there are several things I like about MIcro Lad / Colossol Boy, the first and formost being that he doesn't wear that stupid half-cowl anymore and actually has some sleeves on his costume.

On the less shallow side of things, I also find his boyish charm and enthusiasm quite endearing, not to mention his clear affection for the "little folk." Ditto for his eager-to-please attitude and the fact that he is young enough to be successfully teased about his choice of codename. In fact, he's one of the few characters in this "re-imagining" that doesn't come off as being a bit snotty or catty at times, IMO.

The only trait I wish that they (the writers, that is) had kept from the original reality was his Jewish background, since I, too, (like Eryk Davis Ester) feel that this made him a more interesting character.

You're right, I suppose, but because the writers haven't hinted that Micro-Lad comes from an Earth Colony-World, I'm assuming that he comes from a non-terrestrial society. So unless Judaism has started prosteletyzing (sp?) again in the 30th century as it did in the middle ages...well, I doubt very much it will turn out that ML is jewish.

It would also be nice to see other Legionairres with affiliations with existing religions, just as Irma seemed to be Christian in the Lightle days, for example (as evidenced by baby Garridan's baptism on Titan, or an off-hand comment she once made about Titan girls tending to be too modest to frolick about in the nude as some on Winath tended to).

I have a hard time seeing any caucasion aliens not having some connection to Earth.
