Hello, my name is Dean and I'm a karaoke addict! I have a system and discs at home. Most often I play the them in my regular cd player because for the songs that I like the best, I don't need the lyrics. There are three different bars I go to to perform karaoke in public. I haven't been to one of them in a long time. I'm a regular at another one. (They know me when I show up there.) There's a new place that I like now. The sound system is fantastic and there are more song choices than I've seen anywhere. Last night, a couple of my friends pulled an intervention, where they basically wouldn't let me go where I wanted to go, they insisted I go where they wanted. Can you believe that? The thing is, I *need* to practice karaoke in public, because I will be singing at a wedding in June, and hosting karaoke at their reception. I have a good excuse, right? Are you a karaoke addict, too? Let's share....

Hmmm... KA isn't taking off...
Well, I must tell about how last Thursday night, a couple of friends and I went to that new bar and we spread the word to other people we work with. About 25 of our dearest and closest buddies showed up! It was a PARTY! I was really nervous when I saw how many people were showing up, so I asked my friend if my first song could be a duet with her. We did "I got you Babe." I went really well. Now I wasn't so shaky, so I chose "Just a Gigolo" and had a great fun time. That song's quite a crowd pleaser. It was such a fun night, as lots of other people got up and sang. I say that there's nothing wrong with karaoke!
On Friday, my parents came over so we could make a birthday dinner for my dad. Later in the evening, we set up my own karaoke system and sang several songs. It seemed like my best genre is oldies music. I did "Sea of Love"*"Unchained Melody"*"My Way"*"Hound Dog" etc. Again, great fun.
Does *anybody* have any karaoke stories to tell?
It's okay. It's safe here!

As I approach the prime of my life I find I have the time of my life Learning to enjoy at my leisure Life's simple pleasure And so I happily concede This is all I ask This is all I need

Hey, PII, I meant to tell you much earlier than now, that those are really good words to live by. Thank you!

I realize it's Monday morning, so, last night, Sunday night, my friends and I went out for some singin'. I call it' "jonesin' for some microphonsin'!" My first song was "Sea of Love" by the HoneyDrippers. I got good reviews from my friends. More and more people I work with arrived at the bar, and things got more and more fun, so I did Bon Jovi, "I'll be there for You." That went well, too. My last song was "Creep." I had fun with it, and said "you're so frikkin' special," like Dr. Evil. It was fun. Karaoke is such a blast. Instead of just being at a bar and just drinking a lot, you get to either get up and sing, as well, or watch your friends get up and sing, or both. I love it.

Dean, for all the years I've talked to you online, I've watched your addiction to karaoke (and Lash's too) continue to grow!
All I can say is: Cool!

I think there's *some* hope for me! Last night, I went out, after work, with 4 friends. We went to a quiet bar for drinks. RIGHT across the street was a LOUD bar, with the sounds of karaoke spilling out onto the street. I held back the urge to go there, instead. I visited with my friends and had a nice time. Then, afterward, I went into the karaoke bar, said hello to the host (yeah, I know the host...) and said that I'll have to come in some other time to sing. See? I can control it!
