The he-man/action hero posturing in this recent political season has led me to conclude that all gay-bashing republicans are closted and self-loathing. At least, this is the idea I want to propagate at every opportunity! (I had to live through the -- blessedly unsuccessful -- Alan Keyes candidacy in Illinois and I can tell you that he is the queerest gay-bashing straight guy I have EVER seen!) But I am sick to death of politics -- let's get back to the Legion! To quote Theodore Sturgeon: "Sometimes the world is just too much to take and you need to take a little break from it." Or words to that effect. ...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

Especially including non-recountable, non-auditable methods of conducting elections. I hope these allusions to the Legion stories don't continue, even though the Legion might indeed have become enough of a meme to make it once into Newsweek. We have a hard enough time dealing with inept 31st Century politicians being brought into the stories. Having the Legion mythos, as such, brought into contrast with real-life current scumbags -- from any and all political parties -- is more than a lot of us can bear.
