OK, so we can't do an AL bracket yet, but go ahead and get your National League bracket in writing. Bragging rights are on the line here! Here are my (oh-so-reliable) predictions:
NLDS Cubs over Dodgers Phillies over Brewers
NLCS Cubs over Phillies
*choke* Coulda been the Mets in here...*choke...choke*
I'll post my AL bracket as soon as...um...when we know what teams are in the postseason.

OK, still don't know who is gonna be in the AL postseason - probably be a rain-delayed 20-inning game tomorrow...

Ok, AL bracket...
ALDS Angels over Red Sox Rays over White Sox
ALCS Rays over Angels
Cubs win the World series! (I can dream, can't I?)

Go Cubbies.
Don't care about the rest...
But Phils over Brew Crew. Cubs over Phils.
Don't know what to make of the Angels... lots of wins in a weak division (like Memphis in Conference USA) plus I haven't seen them much. Don't think the Red Sox have the pitching to win this whole thing, so with home field advantage I gotta go Angels over Sox.
Rays over White Sox. Rays at home are going to be a tough out.
Rays are probably a little too young/inexperienced of a team to win the league championship so I'll go with Angels over Rays.
Cubs over Angels.
Something Filthy!

I'm not a huge baseball fan, especially when the Braves are out of it, but I've been closely following the races and storylines all year thru Sportscenter. I actually haven't watched more than part of any single game, though. But it's certainly been an exciting year!
The Cubs...good as they are, you have to wonder if they can shake of the Lovable Losers tag. It's too bad how the seeding system works because I'd be more comfortable with their chances against the Brewers without Ben Sheets pitching. Instead, they're gonna have to go out to the west coast for one, or probably two, games. And the Dodgers are much improved sice they got Manny, like they're a totally different team.
I'm gonna say the Cubs will get past the Dodgers, but I'm worried about the matchup with the Phillies. Moreso, because the Cubs haven't had to really compete for a long while, having wrapped up the division weeks ago. Like a lot of people, I'm rooting for the Cubs and will pick them despite my misgivings.
The AL is definitely more intriguing. You've got three teams in who have each won World Series this decade...and one who's never been to the playoffs and has only a fraction of the others' payroll.
The latter reason makes the Rays a tempting team to root for. No one can argue that they're buying a championship and are a shining example of the team concept. They've proven all naysayers wrong to this point; can they take it to the next level?
The White Sox have some bigtime talent. But they had to scratch and claw their way into the playoffs.
I'll take the Rays in the first round because they just get it done, while the White Sox still have issues.
Angels and BoSox? The Angels have far and away the best record in the AL, but somehow, I know next to nothing about their team. I do know Mike Scioscia is one hell of a coach. Terry Francona's not bad either, even though he's always had the upper eschelon talent.
But the Sox don't have the pitching they had last year. No Curt Schilling and Beckett's not the same pitcher he was last year. Plus, Beckett's only gonna play in Game 3. Can John Lester and Matzusaka pick up the slack? And just how explosive will the Sox offense be without Manny and with Big Papi having an off year?
The BoSox could still pull it off, but I'm doubtful. So I'll give the edge to the Angels.
The Angels/Rays ALCS will be competitive, but the Angels' experience and talent will prevail. I think it'll go 6 or 7 games, though.
Cubs/Phillies in the NLCS? I'll give it to the Cubs because of homefield and karma coming back around. It'll take all seven games though, so it won't be easy.
Cubs and Angels in the World Series? Whoa, that's tough. Part of me wants to say that this is where the Curse gets 'em. But how fun would that be? Cubs in seven!
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

LOL! I was just ribbing you CJ! I rememeber you grieving about the Mets last year, so I guess I'll try to be big and just let it go. Besides, I remember you picking all the first round contests correctly last year, so post your guesses soon, ok?

It's all good Lance, Mets fans are given anti-depressants with their fan kits each season. You've actually got my picks for most of the post season.
AL Angels down the Red Sox Tampa ends the White Sox
Tampa wins the AL. They have momentum, desire, and drive right now, along with a great season.
NL Cubs take Dodgers (can you imagine the bloodbath if word got out this Mets fan ever picked LA?) Philles stop the Brewers run cold
Cubs take the NL, but it's a long fight.
World Series - Tampa wins it this year, but it goes a full 7. Right now both Cubs and Tampa are playing great ball, better than ever. If each team brings it's A game, this won't be a short October.
Just spouting off.

If the Cubs fall out of it, I'd like to see the Devil Rays take the World Series, just 'cuz.
But I wouldn't mind of Torre and the Dodgers won. That'd be a nice 'f-you' to Brian Cashman.

This really stinks. I let myself believe the Cubs could make a run at it. Send me some of those anti-depressants, CJ.
On the plus side, Ohio State pulled off a great win last night. (My wife grew up in Columbus, so she's pretty happy about it.)

Well, my prediction of Cubs/Angels is out the door. Maybe clinching divisions early ain't the best thing, huh? So this may be the kiss of death, but I'm feeling a Phillies/Rays series coming on. Frankly, I'd rather have Dodgers/Red Sox for the drama of Manny vs. the Sox and Joe Torre really getting to stick it to the Yankees even deeper by getting a chance to beat their biggest rival! Hell, just for spite, it'll probably turn out to be either Phillies/Sox or Dodgers/Rays. Who the Hell knows?

Honestly didn't think my Red Sox would pull it out. Serves me right for not having more faith...
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a Dodgers/Red Sox WS. That'll be fun in so many ways.

I live in Tampa. I'm a Rays fan. (yes I'm also a Yanks fan).
We've been KILLING Boston! We were killing them last night! What happened?! We better win on Saturday or then we are in trouble.

I'm rooting for the Rays too Jorge. Earlier this season it began as a big "F-U!" to Boston and even to my own Yankees (who I'm disgusted with) but I really do think they have an amazing team. I hope they win it all.
