From the Pulse: Sean McKeever has informed his mailing list that the Tsunami series Sentinel is ending at # 12. McKeever said, "Despite the sad news, I feel I'm lucky. Writing Sentinel has been a wonderful experience that I will never forget, and it has allowed me to achieve my dream of never having to use an alarm clock again-- er, I mean, becoming a full-time freelance fiction writer." McKeever wrote: Hi. I'm sorry to say that Sentinel has been cancelled, effective with February's issue 12. If you've been following the sales charts, it should come as no surprise. I hope those of you who are reading the series stick with it to the end. There are a couple developments I'm pretty sure people haven't seen coming, and the ending--which would have remained the same had there been an issue 13--will be sure to move you. Despite the sad news, I feel I'm lucky. Writing Sentinel has been a wonderful experience that I will never forget, and it has allowed me to achieve my dream of never having to use an alarm clock again-- er, I mean, becoming a full-time freelance fiction writer. My thanks goes out to the readers. You've made Sentinel all that much more fun to write. Thanks to the talented folks at Udon for their magical artwork. Thanks to Joe Quesada for telling anyone who'd listen to give Sentinel a try. And a special thank-you to editor Marc Sumerak, who has been an amazing colleague and, most importantly, a good friend. Sean McKeever http://seanmckeever.com November 23, 2003 New Albany, Ohio P.S. I'll be at Mid-Ohio-Con November 29 & 30. I'll also be at the amazing Great Ogre Gathering party at The Laughing Ogre on Friday, November 28. Come have a beer with me.

Does anyone else think that Tsunami was doomed from inception? Why can't the publishers focus on keeping the books they have going rather than starting whole new lines like this?

A poster at the old DC board sort of summed it up for me back when... TSUNAMI was a case of Marvel throwing a bunch of crap on the wall and see what sticks.
(not saying the TSUNAMI line is crap, INHUMANS is a fave of mine, but you get my drift)
This bodes ill for INHUMANS I think... I wonder how it, NEW MUTANTS and MYSTIQUE are selling...?

October Sales: Namor #7 was at 108 and #8 was at 112 in sales. Sentinel #7 was at 125 and #8 was at 128. Mystique #7 at 54 and New Mutants #5 at 48 and #6 at 51. Here's the bad news. The Inhumans #6 was 122. Barely selling above Sentinel and below Namor. The numbers are below 20,000 copies for Inhumans and Sentinel.
Mystique and New Mutants appear safe for now but with Marvel, who knows.

Thanks for the info Scott, I kinda figured it would be like that but hoped not. *sigh*
Well, DC's mass cancellations in the past have been good for ONE thing-- I've learned to appreciate a book for the limited time it's here. I assume any new book I like is gonna get cancelled these days.
Fortunately new books I like such as OUTSIDERS and FKAJL are faring much better in sales I think...

Even though I don't read this title I hate to see any title canceled that people seem to enjoy!
Let the Fun Begin!
