Just read the latest Outsiders. Not only is the team been outed as alive and kicking by the outside world, but it turns out Thunder and Grace are officially out to the readers. Was their romantic involvement obvious or made apparent to us before this issue?

This team can really boast diversity: one black female, one Japanese female, one Asian female (or is she?) and a lesbian couple. I'm beginning to see this team being named as such for the number of reasons that they may be seen as outside the mainstream. Given this rationale, as much as I enjoy Nightwing, I don't see him a suitable choice for team leader. Is he an Outsider because he can't find himself a place within the Titans or JLA?

DC has a number of lesbian characters, but too few gay male superheroes(there's Obsidian,and....uh...anyone else? XD )

Eh, I'm over the whole gay thing. 'Binder's right- if Winnick's writing, someone will be gay. It's almost cliched now, like it's there to make a book hip.

On the one hand, I applaude Judd's attempt to introduce gay characters into the DCU, but on the other hand, I wish that he would approach it from a different angle. He can never seem to be content with just having gay characters. He has to go all socially conscious about it. Inevitably, there will either be a bashing, or an HIV scare, or some sort of discrimination about it.

I much prefer the approach they take in Young Avengers. They have two gay characters, but sexuality never becomes an issue. They're gay, but really nobody cares. It's just part of who they are, and there's no attempt to show all the bad things that can come with being gay.

I'm much happier showing gay characters as just being like everyone else, doing "normal" things that everyone else does, without all the baggage that might be associated with it. To me, that teaches a much better lesson of tolerance.

You know guys... I am thinking the same thing. Winnick has to make a gay character on everything he writes it seems. I haven't been reading Outsiders all that much (once 52 started I lost interest in it), but it seems odd that Grace and Thunder would be gay. Didn't Grace and Roy hit the sack before? I also have to agree with Spellbinder, that he makes his gay characters the "victims" to often.
