The replacement for New Excalibur, which I never read.
The creative team of Paul Cornell and Leonard Kirk really click. Cornell's writing kinda reminds me of the serials in the early 80s British comic anthology Warrior (before my time, but I bought a stack of them in the mid-90s.) Kirk has always been good, but there's a clear line of improvement from Supergirl to JSA to this comic.
Just a couple things that puzzled me: what happened to the Black Knight in New Excalibur to leave him the way he is at the moment? He's one of my favorite super-heroes and I don't like this portrayal. And did I miss a Spitfire appearance between her last appearance in Brubaker/Epting's Captain America and this comic? What's with her tearing out enemies' throats with her bare teeth and saying "It's not who I am, it's just who I have to be sometimes?"

Other than the Black Knight(vague memories at that), I am not at all familiar with any of the characters. However, I drawn to it by the art work, and the setting.
I noticed the various Skrull combos. I wonder if someone if making a list of those. anyway this one skrull (pg14) had all the powers of the Avengers founders. Hammer(thor), wings(wasp), ant man helmet, iron man chest piece, and he was green like the hulk. nice visual homage.

The Skrulls are something I have zero interest in. I think the current mega-crossover can't end soon enough.

End of the second arc, and this book isn't really clicking for me. Definitely missing something, but I'm not sure what. <span class="spoiler_containter"><span class="spoiler_wording">One thing though... </span><span class="spoiler_text">Poor Meggan </span></span>

It's been cancelled. http://www.paulcornell.com/2009/05/goodbye-captain-britain.html Ugh, I'm really peeved because this was a great series that I wanted to continue for a long time.

I think it was a detriment to the series that it started in the middle of Secret Invasion. I know for my sake, I was already at my limit for Skrulls and the war didn't leave enough room for the story or new team dynamic to really grab me.
I also wasn't happy about Spitfire being a vampire and I think Cap's new costume looks too much like a watered down Union Jack but that's neither here nor there... (imo, Cap's best uniform was the one Davis designed and that he wore at the start of "Excalibur" - although the lion one was pretty damn spiffy)
