Read my store's preview copy last Saturday, and all I'll say is that you obsessive Legion AR people will need to watch out for this one.

Cool! I was already looking forward to this issue. I love Allred's work already, so the Legion connection is an added bonus.

Preordered mine. Thankfully, it'll be shipping this week with my end-of-month subs delivery.

Hmm. I hadn't planned to go to the CBS this week. That has now changed. Been WAY too long since my last dose of Allred!

Yeah! Too bad the editor insisted on sticking to the white background and logo theme. But we wouldn't have gotten Batman dancing the Batusi!

Whaaaa...! Your covers looked like that? That's the black and white image on my back cover. My front cover is actually of Wonder Girl daning the Batusi. I like the above cover (full color) better!
I'm lucky I got it at all!
I went to the CBS today for the sole purpose of getting this, and it was ALREADY sold out on the shelves at 5pm!
When I went and whined to the cute guy who does the pulls, the other cute guy that works there said I was the third person that had asked for it 'cause the shelves wer now bare of it! The cute pulls guy ran to the back and hooked me up with their promo copy, with Wonder Girl on the cover.
I haven't even read it but I can gaurantee that I love it!

Wonder Girl is the only cover I saw and I was there when the cases arrived, so I saw all the comics my shop had.

My store had plenty, I only saw Wonder Girl covers so don't feel bad Lash. I think the Bat Cover was just for promo and fun purposes. Definitely has that late 60s thing going for it.
The Doom Patrol vs. Teen Titans story is hilarious. And it has Bat-Mite how can you dislike that.

The Wonder-cover was a surprise, because the last promo cover I saw for it had Mr. Miracle dancing on it. That's what I was expecting. Donna looks adorable on the cover, though.
Too bad the above image couldn't have been full color on the back, though.
Thanks for the clarification, guys!

The full-color cover is inside. It makes perfect sense. You'll see!

I loved this issue- no surprise there! spoiler space spoiler space spoiler space spoiler space spoiler space The first page of color art was a pin-up of the METAL MEN! Whom Allred was at one time, at least, slated to draw in a new series or miniseries. Is that kaput? Too bad, if so. The HOURMAN story was fun. What the heck did he get kicked out of the steam room at the gym for? Enquiring minds want to know... (and dirty ones have their own ideas! ). I don't think I've ever seen a superhero trimming his nose hairs before. Hah! Rex is really the perfect hero for these ADD times, isn't he? OK- the DOOM PATROL/TEEN TITANS story was worth the price of the book! Aqualad and the frozen fish sticks cracked me up... As did Donna's Bobby Sherman obsession, Wally's 'Amazons' aside, Robotman's 'clanking time', the appearance of the Flips, Streaky's demonic attack (that face!), "If you only had a brain", Robin's sudden interest in a towel-clad Bette, Mr. Terrific's out-of-nowhere appearance (and his posture while walking- perfect!)... I want a sequel! What happened to COLOSSOL BOY at the swingingest teen party in history! I wanna know! Never seen Mon-el or Supergirl like they were here. Kinda fun! The Batman/Robin story was very well done-- a send-up of current comics within a concussed dream of a more innocent Bruce Wayne. The only negative was Robin's exposure to 31st century brunette hair coloration. It's spreading! There's the *real* Crisis! I liked the Mr. Miracle two-pager. Fourth Worlders are far from my favorite concepts, but I do enjoy seeing them every once in a while. I was disappointed in the clubhouse story. I went into this issue having the highest hopes for this story. It wasn't what I thought it'd be- a tour of the various clubhouses and meeting places of DC's heroes and teams. But once I let go of my preconceptions, I saw this for what it was- a nice picture-only piece that has a fun scene featuring the MAD MOD, a ton of robots and a boy's clubhouse rising up on a metal platform. All leading to a glorious two-page spread featuring a whole mess of DC heroes (one of which I don't recognize-- the guy in red between Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel, Jr.- who is he?) I *really* want to see an Allred illustrated issue or mini-series set in the Legion's Adventure era. Or a JLA/JSA 'untold' meeting. That last page- pure wish-fulfillment. Who wouldn't want that as a kid? Hell, as an adult? Finally- the photo on the 'bio' page gives me a little crush on Allred. Figures that he's devoted to a talented, supportive wife who also is a creative partner. Lucky pair.

WTF?!
This issue was harder to find than, um, a really hard-to-find thing. Every store around here was sold O-U-T out!

*Gulp* That can't be good since I hate people who hate the Metal Men!
Allfred seems pretty satisfied with how it came out, and I'm glad. I wish he had *total* control though, since this is essentially his book.
I'm looking forward to this comic more than any other this month! And I'm actually pleasantly awaiting a whole bunch of comics too...

I'm rather distraught that there was any tension at all regarding this book; and it sounds very much like Mike Allred has no intentions of working with DC anytime soon again.
But I flat-out can't believe that line about "no Darwyn Cooke/cartoony" art or whatever and "grim & gritty only", no humour.
IF it is true, then the recent upsurge in DC's quality in recent years will surely disintegrate, and MARVEL will be the place to be (as titles such as YOUNG AVENGERS, SHE-HULK and the upcoming THE THING series and Allred-drawn DEAD GIRL mini excell).

I don't think it's true either Lash, especially in light of Cooke's recent popularity and success. Too bad this couldn't have gone completely smooth though.
