I'm probably one of the few fans hiding under a rock when it comes to all the Blackest Night stuff, but its scope is too overwhelming for my pocketbook. So could anyone tell me what happened to Tempest and the Hawks??? If they're Black Lanterns, when and how did they die?

I suspect the lack of outrage from fandom is because no one is quite sure what their status will be at the end of the story. Because for the most part the Internet has been pretty quiet in that regard.

I concur.

If anything, there's hope that at least some of these deaths will be reversed.

The end of Blackest Night: Titans has added to that impression, from what I've seen.

Yeah, so many characters are having their hearts ripped out that if the characters aren't all restored, it'll gut dc. So, in a way its working because its really a very good, fun, exciting story...but its losing that "urgent" edge because you feel certain that so many characters are coming back.

Damn you, you kids! Get off my lawn or I'm callin' tha cops!

My pet theory is that by the end of this thing, we may actually have ALL Black Lantern characters resurrected (at least those that have not been destroyed)! My reasoning is how can you resurrect some, but not others? Maybe the solution will be that only a handful will remain at the end that are still kicking, and those will happen to be the most major characters. But, otherwise, how can you resurrect a few while not the others? Because I also don't feel that these characters are dead dead.

If you're going to change the rules about death in the DCU (as has been implied) why not resurrect everybody, giving everyone an equal second chance, then only have meaningful, permanent deaths from that point forward?

It's really what I'm kinda hoping for, actually. Though I've little faith it'll actually fall that way.

Still "Lardy" to my friends!

I think you left out a bit about the Hawks tho'. In an issue of GL, we get a little more background on them in particular.

Just spouting off.

Lardy, I agree. My stance is, if you're going to make death permanent in the DCU as it is in life, bring 'em ALL back! It's actually what I'm hoping for too!

I was sceptical at first but the ending of Blackest Night: Titans #3 has me confident that most of the Black Lanterns (or, all the important ones at least) will be returned to life somehow by the end of this event.

I'm just sorry that BL Lilith got destroyed in that issue instead of escaping along with BLs Terra, Hawk and Tempest. Oh hippy, go-go-dancing Lilith... how I miss thee. frown

6 years later and I can assure you that we are indeed very unhappy with how the Titans were manhandled during Blackest Night.

But I feel ashamed of myself knowing I didn't initially react with such outrage when Tempest was killed off.

I've heard from certain professionals that Garth was... not well liked by some higher ups because they didn't think he was a "bad ass" in the way similar to Hal Jordan.
