Is there some literary reference for The Boy's "Gazelle" dialogue? Kipling, maybe?
AWEsome issue. Allison's confrontation with the amnesiac Vanya was harsh but fitting... hopefully sowing seeds for V's redemption.
Nice to see a memorial for Pogo, but are they gonna repair the Horror memorial V sliced down in AS?
I give this four Open Umbrellas!

Off to a great start! Like CJ said, just a fun, fun book full of energy. Looking forward to a wild ride here.
What I'm really hoping for is some more info on the 6th kid, the Horror. We basically know very little about his death, correct?

The Horror is still an unknown at this point. Even as a kid, he isn't the most fleshed out character. But I'm sure Way will share something on him before all is said and done.
And here's to the second issue of Dallas. Something else else about seeing these characters fight reminds me of my own family, and that's where this book really works.
Just spouting off.

Okay every time an issue comes out, I get all giggly. And I get that way every comic book day, so this is an even more geeky rush.
Number 5 is more than he seems. Hazel and Cha-Cha are the best hitmen this side of Secret Six. Seance isn't the fop I thought he was, he just might be the most well adjusted of them all.
Just spouting off.

Finally got my last two months' worth of comics-- I got more out of UA: Dallas #2 alone than I did out of Final Crisis 5-7 combined. The fact that I also had #3 to read was further goodness on top. Washed that sour Morry taste from my mouth. It's nice to reread books because they're FUN, not because I'm trying to make sense of what's happening.

So I've avoided searching for news on the next miniseries, as I know Gerard's been in the studio with MCR and welcoming a baby into the world to boot, and Gabriel's been working a Vertigo mini with his brother (Daytripper #10, the last issue, was recently solicited)... but after rereading the Apocalypse Suite and Dallas trades back-to-back (AGAIN ) yesterday, I had to seach for some kind of news. I found the title for the next mini, at least, though no solicitation info, on the DHMB: Hotel Oblivion. AAAARGH.

So after quite awhile in comic-time with nary a peep, Dark Horse finally posted some Gerard Way news-- He and Becky Cloonan will be in a ticketed NYCC panel next Saturday the 13th at 5pm for their Fabulous Killjoys series. No news on the UA:Hotel Oblivion mini, but hopefully getting Killjoys out of his system will allow Way to get back to the Academy stories... **"ticketed"--"*Tickets are available for free and on a first come first serve basis in the Dark Horse Booth on the day of the signing as soon as the convention hall opens. Note that fans line up very early in the Javits Center (The Javits Center opens at 7:00 a.m., so fans can line up inside as early as that time each day.)"

So MCR has disbanded. While sad for the emo kids, this gives me further hope we'll see new UA once Ba's schedule opens up... <3

The Killjoys FCBD splitbook was good fun. I initially missed this when DCBS offered the FCBD stuff for preorders; I didn't know Killjoys was in the Darkhorse offering until after my order cutoff for the month. Thankfully, Mile High ran a special the week after Free Comicbook Day wherein you could pick one free book for every $10 ordered after their across-the-board 40% off... I filled some holes in my collection (Uncanny X-Men 121, ASM 161-2, Micronauts 8, Astro City:Dark Ages4#4 and Adv. 519) and got Killjoys/RIPD/Mass Effect and Marvel's Infinity. Killjoys looks like it's going to be good fun. It doesn't hurt to have the full multi-media going, MCR's Danger Days album and the videos for NA NA NA and SING, but not necessary to enjoy the upcoming series. Cloonan's work is completely new to me, but I love it. Looking at picking up some of her self-published works like WOLVES, THE MIRE and her upcoming DEMETER. I'll let my hunger for more UA sit on the backburner and enjoy KILLJOYS for the beautiful, rocking romp it should be.

I'm pumped for this!
I also highly recommend the recent Conan series #1-3 for Cloonan artwork that is melt-your-face awesome.
Missed the FCBD offering but maybe I can find a copy.

YESYESYESYESYES!!! http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/12/22/gerard-way-to-bring-back-umbrella-academy-in-2014/So I got a really nice email from Gabriel Ba the other day, he’s an amazing comic artist who was the artist on Umbrella Academy.. He was checking in to see how I was and that he was going to be finished with a project sometime next year, and we both agreed to- Do part 3 and 4 of Umbrella Academy, starting next year..I am almost finished with my music project and so it’s time to get back into comics

Can't wait!
I have to say I thought Fabulous Killjoys was only "okay". I really love Becky Cloonan's art, but something didn't jive well between her and Way--the characters felt flat and the weirdness felt confusing rather than awesome.
Meanwhile, the Way - Ba combo was always on point from the onset. Daytripper was mind-blowing, so I can't wait for him to return to UA.

Thanks for the reminder, Des-- I've been meaning to order the trade for DAYTRIPPER. I needed to edit this month's preorders to add a book for my buddy Mike, so I ordered this for myself.

I meant to comment on this... sadly, I felt the same. It doesn't have the POP I got from UA...I don't know if it was from working with another writer, because I'm not sure exactly what Simon's role is-- full collaborator? Sounding board? Are they relying too much on the narrative from the album? Whatever it is, it rang hollow for me as well.

Y'know I'd prefer expecting this if I wasn't waiting for him to FINISH DOOM PATROL AND BRING KATE GODWIN BACK ALREADY
Wow where'd that come?

Yes, at least END DP. Although, I read somewhere they'd worked it so #11 went directly into Milk Wars, and #12 IS going to come out, more as a coda to his Doom Patrol story.

I'll try to watch it with my sibling. He was already a Gerard Way fan before he started writing comics and since we're both DP fans, Umbrella Academy was right up their alley.

Anyone else watch the Netflix series yet? I just finished it and I absolutely love it! I watched it over the week (eyes are too old for binge-watching, I can handle a couple eps a day tho!), and was quite pleased with it, having gone into it knowing nothing about the comic. All the actors did a fine job, and was really impressed with Ellen Page's work as Vanya/Number Six and the young actor who played 'The Boy'/Number Five. Page was quite believable as a young woman with social anxiety/disorder, and the boy was great as an older (crotchety) man stuck in the body of a boy.

I'm rereading the comics currently, then I'll try the series after. I wanted to read the new mini but realized that almost everything had escaped my terrible memory.
