So Marvel Man JM Stracathcatorri [sp] is joining DC's staff. I'm not a fan of his, and I know I'm not alone. But others seem to enjoy him. So I'm trolling for opinions.
Just spouting off.

I'm as anti-JMS as a fan can get, but I've only ever read his Marvel work. I also understand much of the things I hated were editorally dictated (in Spider-Man), but I also was never a fan of his plots, dialogue, pacing and other. Hated his FF worse than his ASM.
Still, if he writes a DC comic I'm already buying, I'll give him a shot. DC isn't exactly wowing me with most their stuff these days, so maybe it'll work.

Since I generally avoid Marvel like the plague these days I haven't read any of J. Michael Straczynski's work there. Although I would love to see DC let him do a continuing version of Babylon 5.

I did like Rising Stars... but the delay caused by his Marvel work soured me on his professionalism. As did the OMD bruhaha.
That said, if he took over a book I was reading I wouldn't drop it.
Just spouting off.

I'm a fan. I liked his Spidey (didn't love...well some parts I did...others I didn't). I like his Thor...again some things about his Thor I hate (ie Donald Blake). I've always been a Marvel guy (except for the Legion). So I give writers more of a leash on DC characters. Aquaman grows a third eye? I don't care. I'm open to it.

Back in the mid-late eighties, he was one of the best cartoon writers around. Whenever I saw his name on episodes of The Real Ghostbusters or She-Ra or He-Man, I knew I was in for a good time. He also developed and wrote most of the episodes of Captain Power, one of the very few good live-action kids shows of the time. And then there's his magnum opus, Babylon 5, which I never got into, but whose sheer ambition deserves respect IMO.
But something obviously happened to him along the way to becoming a comic book writer, because most of what I've read of his was a dissapointment to me.
I will say, however, that I liked his first Fantastic Four arc -- which just happened to be the only JMS FF issues that weren't tied up in Civil War. Make of that what you will.
