hey is anyone else following this title. Alan Ross's take on the justice league. with the "legion of doom". a bit hard to follow since it comes out every other month.
this week was quite a turn around for the series. didn't think it was that believable myself.

I think the dialogue and plot are a little slow but the art is one of the best renditions of DC super-heroes to ever see print. I highly reccomend people checking it out!

Des, did you ever read Krueger and Ross's Earth/Universe/Paradise X stories? Interminably slow and drawn out... <eyes glaze at the memory...>
That's the main reason I'm skipping JUSTICE. Fool me once, Alex, shame on you...

I said this back last summer. Too slow, will read the trade. Same two year wait but with less irritation.

Pov, I read about five issues and actually slipped into a coma for a few days. The writing was extremely slow--and truth to be told, Justice is a little of the same (though no where near as extreme).
I'm mainly buying it at this point because of the pretty art, but storywise I can totally see where you're coming from.
Too bad about the Earth/Universe/Paradise X stories too, because they could have been so interesting in regards to this major story of Marvel history with Black Bolt, Franklin, etc...

It was touted as Marvel's KINGDOM COME. Shyeah. Maybe if Mark Waid had written it...
The basic premise was cool... Celestials lay eggs in planets and plant seeds in the dominant species to become the egg's protectors against Galactus, who eats planets to cull Celestials. EARTH X was actually enjoyable. Everything else was overkill, and PARADISE X just didn't make sense.

I just read Justice 1-5. The 2 month gap is too offputting, I wasn't able to just pick up where #4 left off. Cobie's right on this one, the art is amazing. The story is a litle slow, but we're at the halfway mark, so it shouldn't drag much longer.
Just spouting off.

Well, I'm no fan of Ross's art (it makes it harder ot understand what's going on, which seems to defeat the purpose), but the story overall is worth it.
I just wish they had a better storyteller and a different artist handling it. Kind of like George Lucas handing over the directing and screenwriting to someone competent who can run with his (admittedly nifty) ideas.

i for one, love ross's art. can be a bit confusing at times...i'll admit.
this probably is better as a trade but i ahve no patience...and some days this is the only thing i buy at the store. i really liked #4. i liked one to 3 too but they were a bit slow. #5 seems like a setback a bit unbelievable.
good to see my two favorite hawks back in action. not to mention black canary and hopefully zatanna soon.

Ross is a beautiful painter. I don't think he's the best storyteller. He's panels don't usually convery action or motion, but they sure are wonderful imagery.

I don't think his name's been mentioned in this thread, but I feel a need to mention that Doug Braithwaite is doing pencils for "Justice" and Ross is painting over his art (I think that's the split on art chores)

yeah doug should be credited drake. i'm not familiar with his work though. the drawing looks very similar to Ross's previous work. maybe doug's doing the breakdowns. (but now taht i say that the panels kinda look like ross's previous panels ) any one know? what else has krueger written?

I'd just like to say I liked the latest issue a lot more than any of the previous ones. It's like they suddenly switched something on. And now I like it a lot more. Which is good because I'd considered dropping it, pretty pictures notwithstanding.

Anyone still picking this up? I think #6 has come out. I'm considering picking up the hardback which collects the first four issues. I generally like Alex Ross' work but, like others have said, got burned out on his Marvel stuff. Marvels was just about all I could take. All the others (Earth/Universe/Paradise X) were just too much.

I've been a fan of Braithwaite since his run on the Connor Hawke Green Arrow. I wish he would get better assignments. He just gets ignored here. As for buying the book, I always flip through it on the stands when it comes out, but like others have said, I'm (now) waiting for trades or hardbacks. I bought the first three as they came out, and it was excruciating. Not to mention, the second issue read like a stock script kept in a drawer in case some writer had an emergency and blew his deadline. I like the idea of a modernized, painted Superfriends, though.

I picked up #6 this week. The story is moving along, but we're still just seeing individual heroes taken down here and there. DC's trinity is starting to make the comeback, and we get an idea of real power playing going on here.
It's still pretty to look at, but there is no feel of action or energy to it. We're half way through tho' and it doesn't feel as long as it did when I first heard about it.
Just spouting off.

This book is really being hurt by the slow turnout. The story is progressing at a snail's pace and it's almost becoming a chore to read. After the last issue it looks like things are picking up, but I don't really expect much anymore.

Havent bought an issue. Havent read one since the first. I knew it would be beautiful to look at but annoying to read in magazine format.
So I'll only be getting this when I see a good sale on on of the formats after its all out.

It's a definite wait for the trade story. don't get me wrong, looks pretty, and there's some exciting moments in each issue. But the two month wait is killing it. I don't see how ASB&RTBW fans do it.
Reading this in one sitting is going to be lots of fun. But since I dropped the cash to read each issue, I will wait to an all-in-one trade paper back for $20.

The new issue dropped this week. It's an emotion-packed issue, too. We get the league sitting around, talking about getting beat. We see heroes dealing with their recent attacks, like Wonder Woman suffereing from Cheetah's poision claws.
The Flash and GL reunite with the others, and We discover the Big Bad behind the whole plot- not a shocker if you read the first issue. Batman interrogates Captain Cold, and the recent unlaxing of the Bat-butt cheeks is ignored.
The big confrontation this issue, isn't the heroes and the villains. It's Elongated Man and Plastic Man. Ralph starts an arguement with Plas that just makes him seem petty. But it's still the most entertaining sequence of the issue.
If there was one issue to pick up and read while waiting, I'd say this is it.
Just spouting off.
