I just read the ending of 52 including the WW III mini - and some things in the book really confused me - I felt like I had been missing something but I couldn't because I read the whole 52 series and all the other DC books are happening "one year later" sooo...
- When did Cyborg merge with Firestorm - where could I read about this? It felt like everybody knew about it but me...
- How could I tell that the Nightwing in #1 was not ick, but Jason Tood??? It was nowhere to be seen or read, but in the summary in #2 it was written that it was Jason Todd...???
- What in Gods name happened in that Aquaman subplot? Why could those people breathe under water? Who were they and who were the giants who transformed Arthur?
- Did Jonn Jonzz really die or what happened back in the end of #4?
Confusing, confusing, confusing... am I missing something or is it just bad storywriting... again?
Please help me...

I don't know about any of the others but Cyborg and Firestorm merged all the way back in the Infinite Crisis finale when they and the rest of the USB (Useless Space Brigade) were bathed with some weird radiation.

Cyborg and Firestorm were shown merged in one panel of 52 when most of the heroes that were in outer space during Infinite Crisis came back to Earth.
The original plan for Infinite Crisis was to kill Dick Grayson and replace him with J Todd. They changed their mind on this but moved the setting of the Nightwing series OYL. It was so badly recieved that the Jason Todd thing convieniently eliminates that whole mess. And they shall never speak of this again.
The people under water are residents of San Diego which sank into the pacific in a storyline in the Aquaman series several years ago. In that story the residents of San Diego were given water breathing abilities. Arthur is transformed to the Dweller of the Deep appearing in the new Aquaman's story.
Jonn decided that he shouldn't try to fit in with humans.

I didn't know Cyborg and Firestorm merged. (i try to ignore everything about this Firestorm until Ray comes back)
Didn't quite get the Jason Todd/Nightwing thing either.
But it was fun I thought.

Wasn't the Cyborg/Firestorm merge part of the weird zeta beam at the end of Infinite Crisis? The one that made Adam Strange have no eyes, Alan Scott with one eye (but not his own), and Hawkgirl as a giant?

Read Hush -The Jeph Loeb/Jim Lee. That started the whole thing. Judd Winick later picked up the thread and introduced the Red Hood who was later reveled to be Jason Todd.
You can blame Superboy Prime mostly, him knocking on the walls of reality lead to Jason Todd coming back to life.
