I was talking to a couple people a while back about this, and now it is done... A full year of 7 day work weeks and extreme sleep deprivation finally pays off, as my book hits stores... It's a murder mystery set in a theme park, and features my (hopefully amusing) dry/semi-moist wit. It's also my 192-page love letter to the pop culture I grew up with...with references to movies, cartoons, video games, comics (and yes, there are a couple Cockrum/Grell-era Legion cameos hidden in the background of Chapter 1)... IGN has a nice little review of it up here, also: Review If you don't live near a comic shop or Barnes & Noble (^$%# Borders didn't get any), you can order it from Amazon (though they don't get theirs until the end of the month) here: USA Canada UK Japan France Gemany No love from Amazon-China, though. Anyone who checks it out, let me know what you think... Meanwhile, I'm about a week into the second volume.

Congratulations!
Sounds very funny. I'll definitely pick up a copy from my comic shop.

You all should definitely go out and grab it. I just finished reading my copy, and my hubby will attest to all the giggling. It's funny, clever and surprising. I'd love to see an OVA. I'm glad you mentioned the Legion cameos because I missed them the first time, but there they are. And I also found a couple Super-Friends and one of the Legion of Doom.

I'm glad you mentioned the Legion cameos because I missed them the first time, but there they are. And I also found a couple Super-Friends and one of the Legion of Doom. Cool, I'm glad you liked it!! And I'm glad you also saw the Superfriends homage (although representing the LoD, there's also kind of a Grundy-alike at the top of that page)... Some of the references in the book are starting to get obscure for modern audiences. So far, one person has told me they got the Pippi Longstocking reference, which was probably the one I was most afraid no one left alive (other than me) would care about. Anyway, to anyone in the Los Angeles area: Myself, and a couple other artists doing books for Tokyopop are having a signing next Wednesday (June 28th) at Hi De Ho Comics over on 6th + Santa Monica Blvd in Santa Monica. I think we're going from around Noon to 3pm. If you are over that way, please stop by and say hi! I'll be the guy enthralling the audience with tales of how I created the Omnicom captions and Wildfire captions in 'Legionnaires #1,000,000 and LSH #1,000,000 -- my first Legion lettering work -- while trying to gloss over the fact that the Brainiac 417 captions were designed by Dave Lanphear (a swell guy).

Very good review. Congrats Wes! Now to find a copy.
And I didn't know you did some work with a member of Coheed and Cambria. What book was that?

It was 2 issues of a comic book adaptation of their first albulm, 'Second Stage Turbine Blade.' The first issue completely sold out (2 print runs totalling 60,000 copies) which is nice...except that makes it impossible to show anyone who's interested... I think they still have a few copies of the second issue on the band's merch site. Just a reminder to anyone in or around Los Angeles... stop by Hi De Ho in Santa Monica today (Wed) between Noon and 3, and say hi! You know you have to get your comics anyway...
