There are a couple of discussion threads about the "DCnU", but I wanted to start a thread where people simply state how many of the #1 issues they plan to buy. Whether you're planning to buy the series or buy the #1 "just to check it out".

Here's a complete list from CBR:
The Full 52

I plan on getting 7

Zero. My comic-book buying days are largely behind me and what I've heard about the reboot does not entice me back.

I'm interested in roughly half, but won't be buying that many because I'm in the midst of a financial storm. I'll add ten to the pull list, and then check out three or four more.

On the pull list will be:

Wonder Woman
The Savage Hawkman
DC Universe Presents
Batgirl
Batwoman
Swamp Thing
Animal Man
Justice League Dark
Legion Lost
Legion of Super-Heroes

I'll likely check out the first few issues of Action and Superman, issue #1 of Batman and issue #1 of Justice League to help get my bearings in the new DCU.

The titles I'm pretty sure I'll buy for at least six months (includes titles I'd buy no matter what, like LSH):

Justice League
Justice League International
Animal Man
Stormwatch
Wonder Woman
Resurrection Man
Demon Knights
Legion Lost
DC Universe Presents
Nightwing
Legion of Super Heroes
Aquaman
Green Lantern: New Guardians
Justice League Dark

Titles I'm pretty interested in and would give a 3 month trial:

Batgirl
Batwoman
Green Lantern
Swamp Thing
Mr. Terrific
Frankenstein: Agent of SHADE
Red Hood & the Outlaws
Green Lantern Corps
Blue Beetle
Savage Hawkman
I, Vampire

Titles I'll probably buy the first issue of- and if I dislike anything about, won't buy another issue (In other words, I'm already irritated at what I've seen about them):

Superboy
Action Comics
Birds of Prey
Flash
Superman
Teen Titans

The following I'll give a look-see when published:

Green Arrow
Men of War
Red Lanterns
Grifter
Suicide Squad
Captain Atom
Supergirl
Catwoman
Blackhawks
All-Star Western

I will say this though, I will probably watch for the remainder #1's in the cheap bins at the con. Just to eventually get all 52.

Two. Legion and Legion.

I don't really have the funds to wade into anything more.

DC, I hope you know what you're doing. Despite the perpetual blather in the press about "recovery," a lot of us really don't have a ton of money to spend on a format that offers so little bang for the buck. You need to focus your eyes on more access if you want more sales-- on cheaper packaging that could make its way into venues where [gasp!] non-fans spend their money. Otherwise I doubt this brilliant plan is going to work for you any better in the long term than all the previous plans did. There's only so much blood that can be squeezed from the same old turnip, especially in these times.

Just one perpetually broke fan's opinion, of course.

The two Legion titles, the three Justice League titles, Savage Hawkman and I, Vampire sound interesting enough to try.

That's actually two more titles than I'm buying now.

Packaging? You mean cheaper paper? Supposedly, that's not even all that big a factor, which sort of makes me question the price-raises over the past decades in which readers were always told about the rising costs of printing everytime the price on the cover changed.

As to new venues, this month Barnes and Noble is greatly expanding the number of comic books carried. From a handful shoved together on the corner of one shelf, to at least a full tier of newsstand space- and more often two full tiers.

With over 600 stores, that's a big increase to what's been available.

I grew up with comic racks at 7-11s, drug stores, etc. I don't even see those kinds of stores around that much in east Tennessee, anyway. Convenience stores, food marts, etc. just aren't designed for kids to come in and hang around like they used to be-- and adults probably wouldn't buy comics from racks when all they want is a Snickers bar, an overpriced gallon of milk and a fill-up. There's no lingering, unless there's a line- and if there's a line, there's no room in the aisles to look around, even if you wanted to!

ML, I was thinking mostly in terms of digest format books, the kind of thing we see from Archie. (With a corresponding emphasis on more self-contained stores that don't require an investment in twenty-six other titles before the reader can get a feel for what's going on.)

The news about B&N could be great from an access standpoint, especially if it inspires first-timers to move from there to a CBS, where they might find a wider variety of books.

I don't know about convenience stores in the modern day, but I wonder always why there's so little emphasis on promoting books to people who might see a Thor or Green Lantern movie (or pick up a t-shirt or toy for their children). Give them some short, self-contained, free comic giveaway at the theater or toy store. These goodies came from comics, so get an actual comic in their hands, for crying out loud!

The Big Two, with much help from Diamond and clueless CBS owners, broke most people of the habit of just picking up a damn comic. It's going to take time and investment and some unconventional thinking if they're going to get more people back in the habit again. Especially given how many other forms of entertainment are competing with the consumer for their attention these days.

I used to love those digest-sized books, back when DC did them... and the ones with Disney characters! Were there Harvey ones? Little Lulu?

I know Archie still puts them out-- are they the only ones?

Those might be great alternatives that new readers might pick up... Reprints, in general, are a great way to attract some people, too. I know I wouldn't be a lifelong comics fan, if DC and Marvel hadn't printed all those reprints in Spectaculars, Giant-Sized, etc, along with reprint-only titles like TRIPLE ACTION. Oh, but wait- having a history is a *negative* thing, now, isn't it?

Funny- none of the things DC is doing now would've attracted me in the least back when I would've been the 'fresh, new, hip, young' reader they're going for-- well, I never really was 'hip' to begin with...

If they can sell CDs at a movie theater to hawk whatever song's on the closing credits, I don't see why they couldn't set up a little table or something with cheap- or maybe even free- comics for movies based on them. The question- self-contained story or a cliffhanger?

DC's digest books helped make me the Legion fan I am by helping me understanded their complicated history even as I read the awesome Levitz/Giffen classics off the spinner racks!

Definites:

-Justice League
-Aquaman
-Firestorm
-Green Lantern
-Green Lantern Corps
-Green Lantern New Guardians
-Legion Lost
-Legion of Super-Heroes
-Teen Titans

Will check the first week:

-Wonder Woman
-Flash
-Hawkman
-Green Arrow
-JLI
-one Batman title
-Birds of Prey
-Suicide Squad
-Red Lanterns
-Swamp Thing
-Batgirl
-Animal Man
-Superman
-Action
-Voodoo

This is quite a bit more than what I buy currently, so I guess that DC's ploy will work exceedingly well in regards to this one customer...

Three questions...:
1. Could the dark haired woman in the cover of JLI be Donna Troy? Or is this someone who I don´t know (did not read the Brightest Day JLI)

2. Which Batman comic is more likely to feature a large supporting cast (i.e. Alfred, Lucius Fox, Vicky Vale, etc.)? Sort of the more personal side of Batman? Are there any differences in focus between the titles? I am willing to give one title a shot, but not any more than that.

3. Superman or Action? I like long, convoluted stories with lots of subplots rather than one-shots, if that helps (also in regards to Batman above)

I will not be buying any of the 52 relaunches. This is not a knee-jerk blanket dismissal, as I have carefully analyzed every announcement over the past few days. The simple fact is, I don't like very many of the creators involved, and those I do like are being mis-used.

For example, I would have eagerly bought JLI if Fabian Nicieza was writing it instead of Dan Jurgens. Nicieza is not only a great action writer and a great team book writer, he's also a great comedy writer (if you haven't checked out the Cable & Deadpool trades, please do so, as I think even non-Marvelites would like them) and he is a writer with a rare talent for dialects and foreign accents. Jurgens is a writer I have never liked, so I won't be buying JLI, and I don't think Nicieza is well-suited to writing the Legion, so I won't be buying Legion Lost.

If 2012 brings some changes in creative teams and promising new titles, we shall see what I do.

Personally, I'd go for Batman. With Snyder writing...and he's proven himself more than capeable on Detective, I think that one is the way to go.

I am going for Action at this point...but thinking about it, I may give Superman a try as well...not sure. I like Morrisons writing, and if this is touching on his earlier career...I think I'll enjoy that more. Besides, Rags is on art chores and I love his art.

Before I saw this relaunch announcement, I was considering dropping the GL franchise. But if they're refocussing and getting away from events, I might reconsider. The three GL books might make the pull because of that hope. Mulling Red Lanterns over...

Agreed. I loved the fact that there were two different teams of Avengers--one in the regular title and one in Triple Action. I didn't understand at first that they were actually the same team with MTA representing an earlier era until later--but I didn't care. They were good stories.

First issue of Avengers I ever bought was # 116. I liked coming in on the middle of things, with the team and relationships already established. (As a plus, I came in in the middle of a story, the Avengers/Defenders crossover.) Skilled writers can catch the reader up to speed very quickly and keep the story moving.

Are kids today so far removed from what we were like that they have no patience for story-telling, no interest in history (even a fictional one), and no desire to investigate characters that have been around for awhile? That's the message I'm getting from all these reboots.

Exactly the same on all fronts. Without crossover intrusion, I enjoy all three quite a bit. I'm going to continue.

I'm also on the fence about Red Lanterns.
