Remember her name, because I predict she's going to be the first female superstar comic book artist. She's on X-Factor right now, but I want her on one of Marvel's flagship books -- I'd especially love it if she replaced Junior on Avengers.
http://manulupac.deviantart.com/gallery/ P.S. I'm assuming, since she has never had anything to do with the Legion, that this thread belongs in Gym'll's instead of Visionaries.
Wow... this
Emma Frost commission is sweet, and her sequential pencils are tight! Very nice. Makes me a bit sorry I dropped X-Factor with the renumbering.
Her blog And here's the artist herself. Isn't she adorable?
She draws the best Monet ever!
And a pretty cool Pip the Troll too.

This is a nice high profile gig for her, even if it's something I'm not likely to buy (great television series though).
In hoping she eventually lands on an Avengers series, or even Fantastic Four. Actually, she'd be fantastic on Spider-Man.
It's been rumored that Sara Pichelli has the FF gig sewn up.
I agree, Emanuela would do a fine Spider-Man. Really, she's like John Buscema or Steve Epting, in that she can draw anyone or anything well.
Emanuela has new ongoing assingment.
Unfortunately it's on a DCnU book: World's Finest to be exact.
Eh, I'll wait for the trades to show up at the library.
No, who am I kidding? It's Emanuela! I'll probably pick up an issue on a trial basis. I love Helena and Kara anyway.
On the plus side, it's one of the few readable DC series. It's not great--slightly above par at best--but if you're loving the art, it's worth buying.
Thanks, Cobie, I feel a little more optimistic about it now.
I like her use of small panels to move along fighting in the Catwomen page. Her backgrounds are not convoluted, the fighting characters are easy to see. That large panel with both bats primarily in black I've seen most often as an indistinguishable blur. This panel is very clear. Her art is very see-able.
Cobie was right. World's Finest is actually not bad at all. And Emanuela is as wonderful as ever.
Somebody at DC is not doing their job, though, because a different art team was credited on the cover. Are good assistant editors that hard to find?
This puts me in an uncomfortable spot, though, because I just can't in my right conscience keep making purchases that support the DCnU. On the other hand, I do want Emanuela to be a success.
Hmmm...it's just three dollars a month. It shouldn't make that much of a difference to DC's bottom line.
But it feels so totally wrong...
Decisions, decisions...
Maybe you should ask her what she charges for commissions...?
That's a possibility. Thanks, Cleome.
In the end, I decided I'm going to follow World's Finest for as long as Emanuela's drawing it.
With my luck, DC will probably cancel it.
No, no, gotta think positive.
Update: as it turned out, I didn't have to follow it because she stopped drawing the interiors as suddenly as she started.
Apparently, she's done some work on Valiant's Archer & Armstrong, but it's written by Fred Van Lente, whom I hate.
And right now, she seems to be the artist on DC's Supergirl, which is being written by Tony Bedard, who can be good.
I'll probably browse through an issue at the comics shop.
Update: she drew the first few issues of Starfire. I dropped that book after one issue, I thought the writing was harmless but too fluffy.
I stayed until #4. The art remained a high point but the writing was just as you say. Just not for me.
I figured Starfire probably didn't get any better. Thanks for confirming it, Cobie.
I'd love it if she drew the Legion.
But with decent writing, of course.
And her experience with the quirkier side of super-heroics (PAD's X-Factor) would make her ideal for Doom Patrol.
She'd be wonderful for the Legion. Or perfect for Titans if she had good writing.
She draws beautiful characters but she's also a stellar artist for action sequences. So the writers should provide her with some nice ass-kicking action scenes every issue. Let her flex her muscles a bit.
She did the covers for Convergence: Titans.
^^Yeah, and Nicola Scott did the interiors -- talk about artistic Girl Power!
Unfortunately, like (almost?) all the other Convergence tie-ins, the script was lacking.

Actually she did the covers to the Titans book with Roy and Lian in it. Ron Wagner did the interiors. Nicola was the cover and interior artist for New Teen Titans.
Oh, that's right. The Convergence tie-ins were so forgettable that I can't even keep the creative teams straight.
Ema's cover for the recent Black Widow: Widow's Sting OOC one-shot was scrumptiously awesome!
Could someone more image-savvy than me please post a link or an image? Thanks in advance.
I had a look at the cover online and you are right. That is a beautiful image.
Glad you liked it, Stile.
Ema's one of the best artists to come along in the past decade.
So the good news is that JLA 72-74 will be at least partially drawn by Ema.
The bad news is that Bendis is still writing it.
The worse news is that it's three consecutive giant-size issues.
