"Smile," the Beach Boys' (really Brian Wilson's) intended follow-up to "Pet Sounds," was a troubled production that was neither completed nor released. Decades later, a more stable and sober Wilson released a newly-recorded version of more-or-less the same material under his own name.

I bought "Pet Sounds" last week, based on its reputation. Quite a sonic feast but the vocals for the Beach Boys, while technically perfect, always lack real warmth or nuance. Same is true on PS.

Walking on the moon more than walk the moon for me.

Sometimes I think I'm the only Gen-Xer in the world who's always hated Scooby Doo.

Feeling like you're the only one in the world is a very stereotypically Gen X thing.

But THIS guy's not an X-er: (Al Stewart: "Real And Unreal," 1988) [video:youtube] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1z_v3eGcqU[/video] "Did you ever have the feeling you're the only person living in the world...?"

I've always liked Al Stewart's combination of pleasantly conversational vocals and smart lyrics.

Thoth, don't you mean "Ralking rawn rah roon?" Tee hee. Love these. Sometimes I think I'm the only Gen-Xer in the world who's always hated Scooby Doo. A few weeks back, I was explaining to a risk person, the importance of Scooby Doo in training staff from a young age against identity theft, fraud and money laundering.

Since we talked about the Grateful Dead earlier, I though of the Dead Kennedys, the Dead Milkmen, and Dead Can Dance. What other musical acts have "Dead" in the name?

You guys spin me right round, right round. I don't know if I'm Dead or Alive. Paul Rudd and Jimmy Fallon did an almost shot-for-shot recreation of that music video that Conjure Lass shared on FB a month or so ago. Paul tickles my funny bone anyway, but his impression of the singer had me in stitches!
