I bow to the wisdom of you guys on this one. My only experience of editing here was on Ibby's idol game. My vote was based n an original post, and would have changed if I'd seen the edited one. No! Steeeeeeeellllllll! I'm not even sure that applies here.

*sob* Steeeeel! Kimiyo! Vixen! By the way, when voting, do we eliminate teams who get the least votes or something?

Yes, it would be the team that gets the least amount of votes. However, I just noticed that we have an uneven number of teams. We might need to do a special challenge so someone can earn a pass to sit out the first round. Or maybe I will just sit out the first round. I'm also thinking of doing some challenges in general so this tournament will last longer.

hmmm so... I've got Binary 50 Dr Spectrum 30 Smasher 30 Vance Astro 20 and I think I need to give smasher a flight patch the equivalent of a flight ring ... for 5 that leaves me with 15 ... so i'm thinking Moon Knight ... hes a ninja with gadgets ... he could be my tech guy ... and he has super strength during night? If he was in space I reckon he'd have super strength all the time? is he worth a 15? so 150

Can I please get an update of the rules as to how this game will work? I've forgotten (if I ever knew).

If he was in space I reckon he'd have super strength all the time? is he worth a 15? so 150 I would give you 15 points for Moon Knight. It's debatable whether or not he has super-strength, but recent canon implies that he is an avatar of Khonshu so I'll rank him 15 for now. Can I please get an update of the rules as to how this game will work? I've forgotten (if I ever knew). Here is a brief explanation of the rules. We might open a new thread for the actual game since this one is on page nine. (Mods, what do you think? We lock this one up an open new thread? That is usually how it was done on other forums I was a part of.) 1. I will plug the teams into a random number generator in order to match you up with a different team. This is a bit difficult this time because we have an odd number teams. If anyone has ideas other than a challenge so one player gets a pass or one player (probably me) sitting out the first round, please let me know. 2. The player must write a brief but detailed story as to how they would defeat the other team. I am not expecting a novel, but at least one sentence per hero on the other team. The players will submit their stories to the Tournament Runner (me) and I will post them in the thread. I will give my explanations and the explanations of anyone competing against me to a Moderator to post in the thread so you all know that I am not cheating. 3. Everyone (and I mean everyone) in the forum, regardless of whether or not they are playing, will have the opportunity to vote. Traditionally this was done in PMs to avoid cheating, but I would love it if we could just set up a poll in the thread. 4. Teams are eliminated over time until only two teams remain. I might make the second part best 2 out of 3 or else this Tournament would be extremely short. 5. If you must suddenly drop out of the Tournament for any reason, please notify me as soon as possible and we will try to get a replacement. There is no shame in this: the hard drive of one of my computers crashed when I was playing in ComiXtreme, and I had to drop out of the Tournament.

Well Ems, if this game is short, we could just have several fast games and reshuffle or re pick characters.
I like the team building phase as well. I'm already thinking of an X-Force team! Squadron Sinister ... Watchmen .... etc.

We could do two fights each for the first round. Whoever gets the lowest (loses two) gets kicked to the curb ... or we could have run offs from the round one results.

Hi Emily, thanks for sharing the rules. Some thoughts: 1) A poll has to be made in a new thread. We cannot create one in an existing one. When creating a new thread, select the Poll Manager option (it is below the box where you type your post). 2) We could create one polling thread per round, so all match ups can be captured in one poll. There are options to ask multiple questions per poll. 3) For ease of reference, you could post the explanations/writeups of all tournament players in the polling thread itself. Maybe in the first post, or in the second post (but make it clear in the first post that voters should read the explanations first). hope these help.

That sounds good, Invisible Brainiac. I guess there are three things left before we move on.
1) Is everyone in favor of best 2 out of 3 to begin the Tournament, as Power Boy suggested?
2) Power Boy, are you 100% sure you want Moon Knight?
3) I need to choose my last character! I am drafting Stature for 15 points.

I was also thinking that one possibility might be to have more points to spend on characters during the Draft period (e.g. 450) - but then only be able to use up to a maximum amount during each tournament (e.g. 150).
That would give us a pool of characters to choose from and enable us to pick more niche characters that might be better suited to certain environments (aquatic characters for example).
I'm not super-familiar with these types of games though so I'm not sure if that idea would be a pain in practice.

That is a good idea, Blacula. We might try that in the future. I think for now, it might be good to get on with the First Round. I will update the first thread to reflect the choice made by Power Boy.
Here is what the random generator gave me for the first part of the first round:
1) Power Boy vs. Invisible Brainiac
2) Emily Sivana vs. Blacula
Thoth Lad gets a pass this round.
This will be a simple arena match with no preparation time. The environment is entirely neutral, with no advances or disadvantages to any heroes. Think of it as a soccer stadium. You have until next Wednesday, July 1st at 9:45 P.M Central Time to submit your stories via PM to me. Blacula, I might send my story to you and you can post ours in the thread so there is no chance of cheating.
This thread will be kept open for General Discussion for the time being. Please let me know if you have any questions or expect to be delayed, and I will try to work with you.

1) Power Boy vs. Invisible Brainiac
Now I have to understand who exactly Peebz picked for his final team! Gah! Peebz's evil plan to confuse me is working! (just kidding will check Emily's team summary on the first post)

Hi Emily,
I'm still a bit confused. I got your PM but haven't read it yet because I gather from the way that IB and PB are submitting their answers that knowledge of an opponent's strategy gives a player an unfair advantage. Is that correct?
If so, I'll just post my answer in the thread without reading your PM. If not, and I'm supposed to be reading your PM for some reason, please let me know and I'll do so.
Thanks.

Yes, I thought of that too. This gets complicate when there are not many players. Sure, I guess that will work, Blacula. We'll just post ours in the thread itself once Invisible Brainic sets it up. I will ask Invisible Brainic to set up the poll once I receive Power Boy's strategy.
In order to keep the game moving, I want to warn everyone that if you miss the submission time without notice you will lose the round by default.

Whew! I'm glad I'm going in last. I wasn't sure if the battles were fought as groups or not. I might have sent them in one after another like lemmings I found myself popping back to this thread to check the teams. Would it be worth having them on the actual thread too. As a way of announcing who would be in the combat?

I edited the thread per your suggestion. You will be facing off against the person with the least amount of votes in the first round. Be prepared to check this thread around July 8th, as that is when we will be starting the second round.
