Haha cool! Ok just let me know if you will vote or not. There's another thread in Spaceopoly for the poll.

Yay! I just posted my strategy!

Comment - I think it's interesting that there are two DC teams, two predominantly Marvel teams, and one that's a mixture of both.

Question - Is discussion about the battles allowed? If so, would that be held in this thread or the voting thread?

Please comment on the battles in the voting thread. I also think for the next rounds we might need to sticky the threads so others can see them.

The voting finished the night of July 8th and if all is well we will begin the 2nd Round immediately. Whoever gets the most points will sit out next round, and whoever gets the least will face thoth lad.

Oh, I thought this would be single elimination. I was ready to sit out the rest of the game haha! I honestly did not put much thought into my write up while I think all of you did a lot better.

The voting is going interesting so far, but we still have a week to go. I'm probably going to end up using a coin to solve any potential ties.

I think the first post should be edited to either include a note saying "scroll down for Blacula's strategy" or something, or just copy and paste my strategy into it. I feel like the casual thread watcher might think I haven't bothered to come up with one at the moment.

I also think voting shouldn't open until both strategies have been posted. I might be wrong and someone just had a really quick reaction to my strategy, but when I made my vote soon after posting my strategy I noticed that another vote had already been cast, which seems a bit unfair given only half the match had been outlined at that point.

Also, what is the standard procedure with these games? Do we just post our strategies, wait for the votes to come in, and then move onto the next round? Or are we allowed to discuss pros and cons of other strategies, rebut elements of our opponent's strategies, or explain our votes? I can see how opening the rounds up to comments could both help and hinder the game and its players though so am not pushing for either option. Just curious.

One thing to consider when discussing strategies is that the discussion might influence votes. I also agree with Blacula's comment that voting should not open until both strategies are posted. I held off on voting for Emily vs. Blacula until I read Blacula's strategy, but not everyone might have done so.

^ Influencing votes is definitely the big risk when discussing strategies, I agree IB. For that reason, maybe it is best to disallow them? At the same time though, I am really biting my lip about a coupe of things I perceive as unrealistic about Emily's strategy (and a couple of things I think are clever).

She's probably thinking the same thing about mine though. Haha

Maybe we could open the strategies up for discussion after the voting's closed?

Lol all I can say is I'm embarrassed by how little thought I put into my own strategy. Hee hee.

I think after voting closes is a good idea. Definitely, Emily's decision to allow people to see results only after they voted is a good way to go.

^ haha Yours certainly was short, sharp and sweet compared to everyone else's but when you've got someone as powerful as J'onn on your team, maybe you don't need a long explanation? At least one voter seems to have thought so.

I went a bit crazy writing this strategy but I don't think all of my rest will be as long.

Perhaps after the tournament is the time for strategy discussion? Particularly with this one being a small group.

Description length wasn't really a problem for me in choosing. I'm regretting not having Logan with the fight description a simple:-

"'cos I'm the best there is at what I do. >snikt<" - followed by zero votes as it should be smile

me too, i waited.

i think we shouldn't discuss strategy until after the voting is over.

(or ever maybe since ... we are still in the competition! Im keeping my tricks firmly up my sleeves!)

But would I be able to add the poll after the thread is created is the question? Unless I am knocked out of the Tournament early I'm in a bit of bind because per tradition the Tournament organizer doesn't post the strategies of the person they are opposing.

Blacula, I have to admit, I voted for myself. That was the first vote. If you ever play Mafia games, that is the usual strategy, to save yourself.

I kind of want discussion so that people outside the game can notice things that I may not. If I'm quickly reading, I might miss that someone is using a move that a particular character doesn't possess. Or if you pull strategies out of stories that aren't canon to your version of the character.

On a sidenote, on other forums I have been on, people did actively campaign for their teams by putting their teams in their signatures. I don't know if that would be allowed with the rules here on Legion World, but I thought I would mention it.

I feel the same way. I'm currently living in Power Boy Robot's sleeve, and I'd hate for that to all be for nothing.

On the other hand, some length and background would help establish just how powerful some characters are smile

it.

That's a good point. Maybe we should post all strategies in this discussion thread first, and then create the poll?

Also a good point. Familiarity with the characters is very important. Someone who has not read them may not realize how powerful or creative a character is with powers.

I don't think it's against the rules, but it might be a bit too much considering the signature will show up on EVERY thread we post in. Thoth and I post in a lot tongue

well, I might dabble in the odd post here and there... but like POV, having signature updates would mean a lot of exposure, and is that a bad thing?

As for strategies, I do feel a bit selfish about sharing plans (assuming I think of one) or tricks. An example would be if the person who gets the least votes in this first round gets lots of strategy tips before I trip out into the arena for my first effort.

There's no way to really stop any voter, or random passer by, posting comments so I suppose it's something I'd just get over. I do like the idea of chatting about the tactics and characters at some point though, as it would be fun, and build more stickiness to such tournaments.

Actually that was something I originally thought would be funny / awkwardly bad ...

If players got uber violent ... complete with neck snapping and roasting other characters on pikes.

tee heee heehehehehehehehehe
