I'm sorry, but if you view this final trailer and don't get chillbumps, I've gotta wonder about you!

I'm looking SO forward to this and will be extremely disappointed if it's not good. Honestly, I think the only possible problem with the film may be that it has TOO much going on. We'll know soon enough!

I'm looking forward to it as well. From what I've read, DC may be using this as the start of a universe building phase. I hope it's true, cause fans deserve more than just Batman and Superman. If those numbnuts at Marvel can do it, DC should be able to with some top tier Warner Bros. talent. They just have to learn to trust the source material. And let good directors do their work.

It looks like at long last we get the Superman movie I've always wanted to see.

The problem I had with ALL the previous movies was the man from Action Comics.... didn't have any Action! And yeah, that includes Chris Reeves as well.

Total agreement. Looks like that is going to be rectified!

I don't understand the comment about them not having any action. How exactly do you define it?

Things plodded along. Moved so slow that the action was... meh. Even the second movie, the way it was cut. Add in the ham acting, especially at the end in the Fortress... just turned what could have been a real asskicker back then into a so-so movie.

Having Zod point his finger at something... that's not action. Just the way I saw it. And the almost slow mo scenes of the people roling down the street... the flying battle scenes im metropolis were slow and labored. I know it was partly the tech of the time, but it needed more action rather than just a few scenes in a badly done texas town.

For budget reasons, they went more talky, less actiony. My thoughts, anyway.

Fingers crossed that this, and the recent Batman films, can open the gate for more from DC. Marvel's been hitting all the right notes, alright.

A live action Justice League movie would be... wow. Just wow.

I would love a live action JSA and Legion. Neither one will ever happen, but still...

Reviews aren't sounding very promising to me.

Yeah, same here. Reviews obviously aren't the end all and be all, but they do influence me to an extent as to whether or not I'll see a flick in a theatre.

MoS seems to be dropping pretty quickly. I glanced at the Rotten Tomatoes aggregate today and MoS was only 59% positive reviews - the cutoff mark where that site classifies a film as "Rotten". Not a good sign.

Missing Ebert today. He was pretty straight-up with his super-hero film reviews and usually meshed with my opinion (exception being Watchmen).

I have never seen a Snyder film I've remotely liked, but damn if the trailers aren't amazing. I'll see it to make my own judgement, but I'm trying to keep expectations down.

I just can't bring myself to care about any Superman or Batman movie. I do hope it is good for those of you who are looking forward to it, and I also hope it is financially successful so DC will follow Marvel Studios' example and KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING with other, possibly non-Bat/Super films.

While I'm not a huge Superman fan, I want Man of Steel to have a ton of action and succeed financially, just so that the comic book companies don't come to the conclusion that the only comic book movies that are going to succeed are ponderous overwrought boring stuff like the last Batman movies and Superman Returns.

Not letting myself get too hyped. I not only haven't enjoyed the work of the guy playing the bad, I've detested it. Just not to my tastes I guess.

I'll let the reviews play out a bit, then decide if it's a go see at the theater or wait for the DVD flick.

I'm definitely going to see this because I'm a Superman fan and, if nothing else, the action looks to be pretty good, but it really irks me that he's apparently only called "Superman" once in the movie, and then only in some sort of passing way.

It just seems like yet another example of DC/WB being ashamed of all the "goofy" (not in my eyes) comic booky elements that made these characters famous, like the red pants.

That's annoying. Unlike Marvel, whose movies seem to be embracing the superhero elements.

Anyway, I'll still see it, but its getting bad reviews.

Agreed. Let Superman be Superman and then bring on the JL and Legion. I know, dream on.

Soooo much action!

Wow. There was a very real sense of how powerful a Kryptonian is compared to someone like the Hulk or Thor, who are merely ludicrous-strong.

What could have been a bog-standard superhero origin movie, stone cold boring for the first hour, and then great for the last hour, they turned on it's head by mixing up the pacing and judiciously using flashbacks, so that it didn't have a bunch of drag at the beginning. J'approve.

I saw it and loved it.

The only two problems I have with it are pretty much my own idiosyncrasies:

One: Too many explosions, but I understand that's just part of the genre now.
Two: No use of my very favorite of Superman's powers:

Other than that, I think it's a good set-up for a new franchise.

I do wonder why everyone on Krypton wears shades of black and grey, and yet Jor-El gives his son a red and blue suit. I think it would have felt more consistent if everyone on Krypton wore colorful clothing. Maybe the 'science caste' could wear all blue and something else, and the warrior caste could wear all black and something else (black and red for Zod, black and green for Faora, black and white for 'Non,' etc.) and the leadership caste wear gold and something else. Kal wouldn't be the only Kryptonian in the universe that wore something with color to it.

Gosh, 'though, while still terribly monochromatic, that was a *very* different Krypton than the ice/crystal place from the first Superman movie!

We enjoyed the hell out of it. Only thing I didn't enjoy was the people that kept sucking down snot behind me. Sam, who is seven, had a blast. he actually turned to me and said "Superman is AWESOME!

Bogged down is pretty much our local reviewer's take. Wonder what he was expecting? I'm liking the reviews here, much more encouraging.

Having grown up with the Silver Age 'can move planets' Superman, I found the action and the sheer *power* being exhibited to be breath-taking.

For my own stories or games or whatever, I prefer a lower level of power, but it's still awesome to behold when they operate on this scale.

Like any movie about superheroes, it's got plot holes you can drive a Star Destroyer through (most of which come straight from the comics anyway, so they aren't movie-exclusive), but if you just sit back and take it in, it's an amazing spectacle.
