Going back just a bit further, I always thought that "The Roman Legion" would make a great Legion Elseworlds project.
Or, it could even be set in the 30th century, assuming an Earth on which the Roman Empire never declined and fell.

And the second thought there Duke is the basis for my favorite old Trek Episode. Mirror, Mirror.

Wouldn't work. It'd have to be some oversized pantaloons. Of the Spanish variety.

Hmmn. This is an interesting thread you've started, EDE.
1000 years in the past? In what country/region would they be based? Sung Dynasty China? Pre-Magna Carta England? Arabia? Feudal France? The Holy Roman Empire?
What would be the reason for the Legion's formation?
Superboy gets temporarily sent back to 1004 by the Time Trapper. Supes' appearance inspires some (very) progressive-thinking teens (who realize with the turn of the millenium that the world is NOT coming to an end) to risk revealing their abilities to protect a populace that will most likely perceive them as hellspawn.
Hmmn.

Scott and Eryk, if you think you can pry my secrets out of me, you're right!
Yes I've "BEEN" with women. Honestly, I didn't get what all the fuss was about.
Still, I think chicks rule, and there's a few through the years I've considered putting the mack on... but then some boy comes along...
Anyhoo, back to the topic here-- my pants! *tee hee!*

I'd once plotted out a "Legion of Camelot'" storyline...

Well, without too many details...
for reasons all his own, the late Uther Pendragon's wizard advisor, Mordru, secretly works to place a youth he claims is Uther's son on the throne. Rokk was placed in fosterage by Mordru with Sir Brande, a knight who was loyal to Ambrosius, but couldn't abide by the unruly Pendragon. Rokk was raised alonside Brande's half-faerie son, Reep.
As Rokk joins the fight at Londinium against the invading Khunds, a Saxon tribe, his sword breaks. Scavenging from the city castle courtyard, a sword is stuck in a stone. Rokk reluctantly (suspicious of 'sorcery') uses his natural affinity to manipulate metal, and free the blade. When others proclaim him king, he regrets his haste, not believing his miraculous deed legitmate.
On his way to a war council to recant the deed, a priestess emissary from Avalon warns that assassins are about to kill Brande (as Rokk's foster father, he is the de facto Regent until Rokk's coronation). Rokk, with another young knight who rides and fights as fast as lightening, prevent the assassination.
that's how it begins. there are plenty of twists on Arthurian and Legion themese, plus some surprises o all my own.
The childhood friend Exnihil never had.

Cool!
That's sounds like a great story Kent!
And I'd love to see a Roman Legion story as well, imagine all the fun possibilites! Still, a Roman Legion would *have* to include a lot more deaths than any volume of the Legion has...

Kent, have you ever read Legionnaires Annual #1 (1994) - the Arthurian Elseworlds story written by Waid and Ty Templeton? It's the Legion of Avalon Station against the Dark Circle. Good story. A couple of other ideas -- the Legion as meta-human Crusaders in the Dark Ages, or as a super-powered Robin Hood and his Band of Merry Men (and women).

I have read it. liked it, but not as detailed as what I had in mind.
Trom, with a bamd of Merry Legionnaires that big, Prince John wouldn't stand a chance!
how about 1,001 Arabian Legionnaires?

I also had an idea called Legion Heirs, set in pre-boot but post-Zero Hour... all the Legionaires except (ahem) Kent Shakespeare vanished during the finale with Glorith and Mordru (Kent wasn't there). 15 years later, he shepherds Pol Krinn (the son, not the bro), the Ranzz kids, Lauren Gand and maybe a few othersa into a second-generation team...

Kent, I like your idea. Sounds pretty good. All the ideas on this thread sounds pretty intriguing.
Now, how about the Legion set in ancient China, during maybe the Romance of the Three Kingdoms or the era of the seven warring states?
