It would be strange if this episode of the TV show were hugely popular beyond DC's wildest expectations-- At the very moment when they don't seem to know exactly what to do with Legion at all. Gotta' wonder what would happen. Would there be another Legion show, but live-action and more like Smallville itself ?

Hey, check out this month's issue of Wizard magazine. It has a two-page article with Geoff Johns telling about the behind the scenes origin and conception of the up-coming Legion episode. Pretty insightful stuff. It also has a nice picture of Johns with the three actors playing the founders in their cool new Smallville outfits.
... and the countdown to the 15th continues ...

The current TV guide magazine also has a two page spread. Not really any new information for us here at LW, but cool to see it in mass media like that! Fanboys rejoice! (that's a quote from the table of contents which references the Legion 2 page spread on pages 38 & 39). If any of my fellow AR Legion collectors wants to get the issue, look for the January 12-18, 2009 issue, with Grissom of CSI on the cover (it's his final week on the show). 1 week from tonight, baby!!!

1 week from tonight, baby!!! They cancelled publication of the Canadian TV guide magazine up here some time ago and their on-line site doesn't mention anything about the Legion episode. Would anyone care to scan and post that article for us TV Guide-deprived Canadians?

Here's one article from TV Guide:
"Think of them as FEMA, only with spandex and kicky boots.
In the devastating wake of what happens at the end of this week's Smallville episode — let's just say that Davis isn't feeling like himself and Chloe is due for a helluva honeymoon — Clark's hometown is going to need a super clean-up crew. Cue the arrival of Saturn Girl (aka Imra Ardeen), Lightning Lad (Garth Ranzz) and Cosmic Boy (Rokk Krinn), all of whom travel far to tackle this task — specifically, from the 31st century.
Played by Alexz Johnson (well-known for her run as Jude on Instant Star), Calum Worthy (who has had a handful of appearances on Psych) and Ryan Kennedy (from CTV's Whistler), the trio of helping hands will effectively introduce Clark to the famed Legion of Super-Heroes — which he, as Superman, one day will join.
The three Legionnaires are slated to make their debut in Smallville's first episode back following the midseason break: "Legion," penned by Geoff Johns (a favorite scribe of DC Comics fans) and airing Jan. 15.
What's your take, Smallville fans? Thrilled to see Clark take another step closer to his destiny?"
Damn you, you kids! Get off my lawn or I'm callin' tha cops!

I can't stop laughing at rickshaw's quote about FEMA. I am so totally using that description to explain the Legion to the non-initiated from now on. rickshaw channeling TV Guide
The Legion of Superheroes: It's FEMA, only with spandex and kicky boots !! Thank You TV Guide, for making us laugh at love again !! Also, I'm totally loving Saturn Girl's fingers-to-the-temple thing. It's gonna' be so cool when other Legionnaires show up in future eps. Like I totally see Cham in a mime costume, only with orange face paint. He'll probably have a French accent, too. (Hey, they're all Canadians anyway. It could work !) Why is everyone looking at me like that ? [pout]

Thanks for posting Korbal. Pretty cool clip of the Legion using their powers, especially the combined use of powers with Rokk and Garth (why didn't they ever do that in the comics?). The actors actually seem believable and play the roles well in the brief time we see them. The are completely heroic going up against Brainiac and act like the Legionnaries they're portraying. They ARE the founders. It's going to be an awesome episode, no doubt!

I have seen a Keith Giffen version and a Stuart Immomen version - 5 o'clock shadow and fully bearded (as Polestar)... I liked the latter. So four more days to go!!!!

The two page TV Guide spread has a picture of the founders with Geoff Johns which I think is the same one that was in Wizard (maybe, I dunno) but the contrast is higher and you can tell that Saturn Girl has a "Saturn" symbol on her shirt under the jacket. That made me happy. Also, they managed to get through a short paragraph on the history of the Legion comics without any glaring inaccuracies, and threw in a Curt Swan illustration of the founders with Superboy (uncredited, but still a good pick.)
I never have learned to post an image here, but if anyone who can will PM me an email address I'd be happy to scan for posting and forward.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Legion on Smallville so much that I'd forgotten that Supernatural was also going to be on that night.

I'm trying to keep my expectations low for this, really. I'm glad to see the Legion finally making it into live action film but given the limitations of a t.v. budget I'm not expecting an abundance of cool action sequences. (Any bets on some Flight Ring usage?) Still, it's a start.

Ok, I saw some clips and I'm raising my expectations... I won't say anything else though for the spoiler-free types.
