I think the most recent issue... the first of the SECRET SIX guest-starring turn... is the answer to the question of this thread.
And that's without the spoiler everyone's talking about.
This is the best writing I've ever seen featuring Barda. That scene on the plane with the bullet holes in her leg? Golden.
Huntress and Catman? Terrific. Loved it.
The return of Creote? Great, though a bit lost amidst everything else.
Spy-smasher sort of leaves me cold. I like the idea of an 'anti-Barbara' (though I thought we already had one in The Calculator). I guess the distinction is that the new one works for the government. ('Bad' government guys are getting more than a little overused, though.)
I don't know much about the original Spy-Smasher. Would he appreciate this new character using his name and ID? If he were alive? If not, then I'm against it.

I just didn't like the lame excuse Babs had for Black Canary returning to active superhero duty only to join the JLA: "just needed a change of scenery"?
Could a Fire and Ice addition to the Birds be far behind?

Hmmmm, the timing would work, giving her time to get ahead while Tony scribes his arc. And she mentioned she loved the Legion back when she wrote post-DNA.
And her skill with multiple characters in BOP and Secret Six would come in handy here.
Thanks A, for giving me some silver with this cloud.

I think it was said that she'd be writing a prominent female hero.
I've heard Wonder Woman suggested.

Yeah not too many other "prominent" female series in the DC pantheon. Black Canary but Tony Bedard is writing that mini.
The novelist Picoult is only on for 5 or 6 issues so WW would be possible.
Something else else spinning out of the crossovers is my only other guess. Batwoman maybe?

So, I enjoyed # 105, as usual!
And can we go ahead and have an ongoing SECRET SIX series now, please Gail, with a rotating sixth member?

But if Gail had to give up BOP for WW, what would she give up to write a SECRET SIX series? I do like the rotating 6th member bit, it adds something.

What'd y'all think of the newest Sixth?
I would've been more interested if one of the previous (sort of) holders of the name, initials M.C. or M.M.S, had popped up.

I like the addition, if only to see the interaction with Ragdoll. She doesn't seem like a long term member, but there's certainly some story potential for a few good tales.

Rich Johnston's greenlighted this tidbit in his Lying in the Gutters column for this week-- HEINSIGHT
Alan Heinberg is writing a Barbara Gordon series with Terry Dodson So what's this mean for BoP, if true? And you -know- between Heinberg and Dodson, it's going to come out every 3-4 months anyway... don't know how to get excited for this.

BIRDS OF PREY #109 Written by Tony Bedard Art by Nicola Scott & Doug Hazlewood Cover by Stephane Roux When word reaches Oracle that Black Canary is considering a marriage proposal from Green Arrow, Barbara decides she must play devil’s advocate to ensure Dinah doesn’t make the biggest mistake of her life. Plus…a New God dies! On sale August 22 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US ---------------------------------------------
So somebody tell me it isn't going to be Scott or Barda so I can sleep the next few months. Because if Tony Bedard kills off my favorite power couple I may need to drop birds and legion.

come on people just one person tell me it's going to be one of the forever people.
I'm probably kidding myself but I can't beleive they would destroy an icon like the Frees especially after what they did to the Dibneys

It may not have been instant classic, but Big Barda VS. Knockout was all kinds of fun. I hope the creator shift doesn't see Barda's exit from the cast, as this is the most enjoyable I've ever found her.
Cat-man and Huntress make a good couple, IMO. I hope that gets follow-up.
Spy-smasher does nothing for me, so far. Hawkgirl's presence is sort of a waste. Same for Harley Quinn, unfortunately. Maybe the'll make more of an impact in this storyline's final issue...
...which is preceded by a sudden, er, shift in Ice's demeanor that has me curious, if a bit dubious.
I miss Canary.

Simone writing BoP is the best idea since Dixon first paired Babs and Dinah. The Villains United mini was the highlight of the whole Infinite Crisis story.
The Birds facing off against the Secret Six has been an okay read. I don't think Gail has really grabbed anyone but Barda (I don't like Helena as the good girl)on this new team yet. And since we haven't had the Six be more than some mercenary thugs, there's no wow factor coming from them either.
Nicola Scott draws a very pretty book. She can stay here for a good long while. The only thing I didn't like was the splash page. Pull back a bit, and Scott's figures take a simpler, more generic feel to them.
I miss Canary.

I think the latest arc with the Secret Six has been Gail's weakest work on the series. The new team doesn't seem to mesh as well.
I miss Canary.

The fight could've been better. Deadshot should've taken that pony tailed lass easily. Barda should've taken KO easier as well.
But it still was fun.
