I'm guessing this is from a story where someone was kicking people out of the Legion for violating issues of the Legion code. So that would mean either the issue where Saturn Girl becomes leader and Lightning Lad dies, or maybe the one with Alaktor (?) where he kicks everyone out and replaces them with the LSV. Both of those are pretty early...

So at a wild guess I'm going to go for Sun Boy.

OK, here is a question that is based entirely on memory, so hopefully I have it right.

In the infamous Dr. Mayavale story which was in, I think, LSH #268 (sigh, will there ever be a Legion title that goes up to #268 again?), who was featured on the cover (as part of a roll call) but wasn't in the story? And which who was in the story but missing from the cover roll-call?

I have that issue, one of the Ditko ones i think, but i can't recall off hand.

I was a new reader of the LSH at the time, and one of the few stories I had read up to that point was the "Curse of the Blood Crystals" or whatever it was called from the SLSH days. That story included Ultra Boy, so I was pretty disappointed when he wasn't in the story in 268. They never even mentioned Shrinking Violet's name or (I think) showed her using her powers, so I had no idea who she was. Ah, those were the days, when the Legion was a vast unknown to me full of amazing things to be disocovered. So many characters, so many origins, so many powers! For me as a young comic reader, not off-putting at all, only inviting.
