Last year, I found out that a product I really like was being discontinued so, like any insane person, I went around to a bunch of stores and bought up all their remaining stock. What was the product?
1. A brand of breakfast cereal 2. A brand of dog treats 3. A brand of hair gel 4. A certain length of sock 5. An over-the-counter pain reliever 6. A pet-friendly sidewalk salt 7. A powdered drink mix 8. A specific sub-brand of soap 9. A specific sub-brand of soup 10. A type of pasta 11. A type of wood-stain 12. Nothing... I made up the premise... I'm crazy, but not that crazy!

All of the products on the list are actually things that I did like at one time that got discontinued, but only one did I get the jump on.
Unfortunately, the wood stain was not it. I have an old house with tons of nice woodwork that, over the years, previous owners have painted. I've spent a lot of time stripping it all down and restoring it and was very disappointed to find out that my preferred type of stain - a kind of squeezable gel - was discontinued before I could stock up.
Not so, however, with my hair gel. I have horrible Eraserhead-like hair and the only thing I ever found to make it look halfway decent was Matrix's Switch Up Gel Wax which, about six months after I found it, my barber told me it was going off the market. So began a weekend's worth of drugstore and supermarket combing resulting in me finding enough remaining tubes to keep me in business for about another five years. Hopefully it stays good for that long.
Next round to Power Boy.

no ... you would think it would be down there on the list but despite .... the dirt, and exhaustive heat .... and the fact that masses of rotting tomatos smell worse than feces ....
no it's not the worst job i've ever had. the other workers were really nice. and it was outdoors .. which was kinda ok.
AND i think i was 14 (?) and used the money to buy myself a tv for my bedroom!!!! which came in quite handy.

4. movie theater concessions person
I did that at one point and, even now, still get queasy at the smell of fountain soda.

Ex are you psychic?
YES #4 was the w o r s t. out of many bad jobs. [travel agent was pretty bad too, people always yelled at me over the phone!]
ugh, i have so many stories from the movie theater ... all disturbing ...
I worked at probably the only non art theater in Berkeley, it played all blockbuster action films. they played such greats as:
Black Dog ... starring Meat Loaf.
and people were SOOO rude.
they would walk up and say 'POP CORN'. ok ....
not to mention the guy that got kicked out of a theater for lewd behavior or the guy that went to go get his gun cause some guy was harassing his wife. lol. and that's not all!
cleaning the oil out of the ''butter" dispenser was especially glamorous. (on the bright side i always had cash in college) cleaning the pop corn machine was also gross. here's a warning people: 18 year olds don't put much effort into cleaning out the gross popcorn machine every night.
hotel reception was pretty great too, (as in horrible) since i was sexually harassed by two of my managers there. haha!!
@ Kent, no i got a job as a high school art teacher but was too freaked out to go through with it. too many bad flashback memories of high school. i should've done it in retrospect ... wouldve been good experience.
your turn EX.

Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of cool things about being in the army. I loved traveling around the world, camping in the woods, and yeah, jumping out of planes. But what I didn't love was the entire ranked structure where, by virtue of the fact that someone was higher ranking than I, I was beholden to follow their orders - regardless of how ill-informed those orders might be. A great many intelligent people get out early on so, through attrition, you are left with those who are left getting command positions by default. This isn't true across the board, but widespread enough that it was not my favorite job.
The IT Release gig, my current job, is fine, but very dry and corporate. It pays fantastically, is fairly easy, and I own the process entirely (i.e. no direct reports) but, at the end of the day, meh... I'm not doing anything special.
My favorite job, however, was the summer of my 16th year as a landscaper's assistant. It was one of the most physically fulfilling (at the end of the day, you knew you had worked) jobs I ever held. Being out in the sun, working with living things, getting your hands dirty. It was fantastic! It was the most connected I've ever felt to the end product of my labor. To top it off, the landscaper I worked with was a very spiritual guy, who was always trying to turn me on to a Buddhist ideal of performing work with love... in other words, focusing on the task at hand as though it was the most important thing in the world. He taught me a lot, and I'll always look back on that gig as the best job I ever had.
So... back to Power Boy.

dammmmnnn youuuuuu!!!! damn! how'd you know? i love the jli (of course), and this wallpaper seems nice and cheerful ... yet classic. hopefully it says something about my attitude. isn't it great! I had The Legion#1 cover on forever, i loved how they heroicly returned walking out of the light. and i had an Uncanny X-Men (circa issue 100) on for a while by Alex Ross, and a Justice League of America on the steps of the hall of justice by alex ross on for a while .... I also had that promotional cover by coipel for the Legion on it, and the JLI replaced the splash page from terror incognita where Cosmic Boy's team is shown hovering. over to Mr. Esq

Lucky guess on my part. It is frustrating when you spend all that time making up a question and then having someone get it on the first guess.
Now for my question.
I am currently on the grand jury. One of my fellow jurors is named:
1. Neil Young 2. Patti Smith 3. Steve Perry 4. Deborah Harry 5. Bryan Adams 6. Charlotte Church 7. George Harrison 8. Karen Carpenter 9. Ricky Martin 10. Annie Lennox
