...saw a dead kitty (gray tabby) on the side of the road on my way to work.  When I got home, I gave The Sid a huge hug and a scrap of chicken. He didn't care for the hug, but was happy to accept the chicken.

Spent all day working on floors. Doesn't seem like much, but in three days I've put down over 25lbs of wood screws. My back hates my guts. And my guts hate my legs. And all of them hate my brain.

First day of school.
Woke up to newspaper article: recent grad killed in a car accident. 19, he was stationed in Germany.
More than the usual "can't make eye-contacts." Have to look for bruises as the year goes on.
Several "hearing impaired." Caught myself a couple times teaching where I couldn't see them, as if they weren't there. As a class, have to give them time to see the interpretations so they can answer too.
Last hour will involve homicide before the year is up but then, doesn't it always?
