I divide my time between fighting credit card debt, The Sid (our evil, obnoxious tabby), and the forces of inertia. The word is still out regarding decisive victories on any of these fronts.

Humor. The ability to see life's absurdities and to laugh at despair.

SAPBM,

What movie do you think was better than the book?

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I liked CS Lewis' ideas, but couldn't stand his writing style.

I could argue that Peter Jackson's LOTR movies were all better than the books in their own way. (Yeah, I know--SACRILEGE!) I think I can say most definitively that The Two Towers was better than its prose counterpart.

SAPBM,
Same again!

^NO WAY!!! ( laugh )

I found Great Expectations really difficult to get through but the movie was better (not great, mind you, just better). This is actually a hard question.

Maybe not a book the way the oroginal question was phrased, but I think the live action Death Note movies are better than the original manga, specifically the fate of the "L" character.

It is a tough (but very good) question

The Wizard of Oz. The movie had much better music than the book.

YAPBM,

What is the worst movie you've ever paid to see in a theatre?

That would have to be Millenium (1989) Starring Kris Kristofferson and Cheryl Ladd. The basic premise is that in the future because of pollution all humans are sterile. So the people of the future build a time machine and take people off of planes that are about to crash. What made the movie especially bad for me was just towards the end, the projector broke down. I and most of the audience waited for them to fix the projector. After about 15-20 minutes the film continued. All that then happened was the robot character acting as the narrator says "This is not the end. It is not the beginning of the end. It is the end of the beginning." I waited at least 15 minutes for that??!?!!? I was pissed.

SAPBM,

As the 2nd part of a drive-in double feature, Gone Fishin. Perhaps the only movie I've ever walked (okay, driven) out on for being bad.
For a film on its own... Forrest Gump (but Patch Adams is a dishonorable mention).

please, I saw Cat Woman in the theaters. the village too. (which was hysterical ... i'm saving lady in the pool, i mean water for a rainy day) and i saw the happening. (tho i didn't know it was m knight when i went to see it. it had some funny parts though)

recently, Sex and the City 2, which was sad cause i liked the tv show. and Never Let Me Go was just plain bizarre.

but ........ 'You Again' made me angry. it's number one, taking out catwoman and m knights many offerings.

Burger King. A truly soul-deadening experience that's scarred me for life.

SAPBM,

Better late 70s New Wave album: The Cars' "Candy-O" or Elvis Costello & the Attractions' "Armed Forces"?

Not a big New Wave fan, but I'll go with "Candy-O," if only because Costello's voice gives me hives. (Actually he's a little more bearable now that his voice has deepened with age. Also, his guest appearance on the first Dirty Dozen Brass Brand LP was pretty good, because they made so much racket that you could hardly hear him.)

I ought to call myself LatteLad (or He Who Latte's), as, no matter how bad things get, I can always afford a three-dollar cup of coffee. I rationalize this by saying that I need the espresso to stay awake, I'm just using the coffee shop for cheap office space, and it gives me an excuse to hang out with friends (which I'll be doing shortly).

SAPBM,

Has the social networking age made it easier for you to stay in touch with family and friends, harder, or no change?

Actually for me it has to be no change.
Yes initially it was fun to communicate via Hotmail and then Skype, Facebook, etc, but then it all sort of settled down, the novelty wore off and things are generally back to "normal" for the past year or so.
For me keeping in touch is still up to the individual person ... some make the effort and others not so much, even with the added ease of social networking or not.

Same Arguments Passed By Me

Do you prefer to call someone and speak on the telephone or would you rather connect via Webcam or text?

None of the above. I actually prefer email: It's short, to the point, and I never worry about interrupting someone's TV show or dinner.
