Byrne retconned Vision as being made of the Human Torch's spare parts rather than the inert body of the formerly complete and active torch. But it still fits (somewhat) for Ultron to insist on the red color as a reminder of the body's original purpose - albeit in spare parts.
Of course, it was also during Byrne's run that the Vision was disassembled by the government and re-assembled as being while. But I'm referring to his originally-introduced (and later restored) skin color.

But I'm referring to his originally-introduced (and later restored) skin color. There was a bit in Byrne's run where on one panel you see Torch's original face. Then someone putting a device over it, to disguise the original features. It's not shown if the new face was red, or how that changed the rest of the skin red. Considering the minutiae Byrne went into on that run, the red skin colour should have had a whole issue.

Next question: Why would an entomologist claim John Law’s moniker Tarantula was an ill-suited choice?

He doesn't have the right number of limbs? While true, the intended answer has to do with the thought process that would lead John to pick the name Tarantula.

Well, he was suspended from the All Star Squadron for moulting, so it's not that. Is it that he has a web gun, where tarantulas do spin silk, just not for the reason of catching things?

Thoth’s got it! Tarantulas do not spin webs to catch prey, contrary to the use of the web gun.

it would take a bit too much effort to consistently do so, wouldn't it?

it would take a bit too much effort to consistently do so, wouldn't it? Probably best not to bring too much science into a world of super heroes. My lazy, non science based questions are really saving us from harsh reality ruining them. That's my excuse, anyway.

We also don't want to get distracted by having to test whether each idea is scientifically sound I can't remember enough of my high school chemistry and biology to contribute, anyway...

Sadly, the lack of chemistry knowledge led to the death of Chemical King.

Sadly, the lack of chemistry knowledge led to the death of Chemical King. That always struck me as a naively optimistic character design. No way are writers going to come up with more than a few useful chemical reactions. And for as much as I admire Chemical King, they couldn’t have given him a better costume?

From the makers of Tyroc's outfit, Rokk's bustier and Imra's bikini, he might have been better off.

My theory: Green was Lyle’s favorite color, hence why Condo wore all-green

It was his dad. Specifically, his own mind had his Nazi father goad and abused him into action. Although tapping into violent action movies of the time, I wasn't surprised it didn't get past a 4 issue mini series.
