I know his classic purple and orange costume. During the Dark Circle story I believe he had a blue and white costume (Jurgens). Anybody have it handy to scan? My back issue is put away like Fort Knox.

I would like to make a psuedo-threeboot version.

Don't recall the blue and white one but don't forget the original costume he wore in Superboy and Adventure comics when he was first introduced.

I don't do Adventure Comics. smile JK, I had no idea he had an earlier costume. If someone has a scan of that I'll take it as well. wink Maybe go back to basics...b/c that it's most purest form...too bad it's not the best form!

Dev-Em's first appearance was ADVENTURE COMICS #287 & 288 .

He next appeared with the Legion in ADVENTURE COMICS #320 .

His last Adventure-era appearance is in SUPERBOY #128 , but this is actually a dream-sequence.

He doesn\'t appear again until LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES v2 #294 .

Then, in TALES OF THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #317, S.P. Officer Erin (later he reports to Gigi) sends him on a mission to infiltrate the Dark Circle that lasts until TALES OF THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #325 (mostly as a subplot).

After an appearance in LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES v3 #14, I don't remember him appearing again until v4 (ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN #478 - in which he appears as a mad (from lead-poisoning) Daxamite who wants to destroy the Moon).

Behind the scenes, he was added to Leland McCauley's Eye of Ekron frozen collection of super-beings. We get glimpses of this in LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES v4 #39 and LEGIONNAIRES #4.

He played a role in the end of the pre-boot starting in LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES v4 #57 and finally disappeared in VALOR #22.

His only post-boot appearance was flying above the crowds in LEGIONNAIRES #43.

* Can you tell I'm a Dev-Em fan?

You too, huh Gary? laugh

Did anyone else notice Adam Strange and (I think it is anyway) the original OMAC in the background of that last panel Gary posted?

Wow thanks NC! I'm also a Dev-Em fan. And Mon-El also for that matter. Never cared for Supes but his derivatives/alternates I've always liked.

So NC/Vee any suggestions (atleast color wise) a new Dev-Em costume should look like?

I'm stuck between a man of mystery almost uniform look (dark colors) or the oppossite...the blue/white/green variant.

(the older I get the more I enjoy the retro stuff it seems. have to read those checklists!)

I think it has to have purple in it somewhere to be Dev-Em. More man of mystery than flashy like Superboy or Mon-El.

Have to admit, I really don't care for that blue/white costume on him. (Wouldn't be too bad for Progarth or Jarth though laugh )

As for colors on an updated costume for Dev, I agree that deep purple needs to be in it. Black is a good second collr and I think I'd like to see how a deep dark sapphire blue would work...or a metallic gold.

I hadn't thought about this until reading this topic but it seems that Waid has transplanted Dev's attitude onto Timberwolf.
Betcha Mark was a big Dev-Em fan back-in-the-day too.

Could be but Brin was also a loner initially (hence the original codename Lone Wolf). It was quite a while before he reappeared in the Legion of Super Villains Academy 2 parter and joined the Legion (renamed as Timber Wolf) along with Chemical King.

Jorg, the third one is pretty damn kickass, I've got to say. Although the traditionalist in me likes the thingy that goes around his neck and shoulders down across his chest, so its a hard call.

It's pretty cool to see new designs of Dev-Em though, as I too would love to see that character reappear.

Hmmm... Now that you mention it Vee, is that the Thing looking over GiGi's shoulder? And where have I seen that Yellow Fedora before?

NC, I am also torn by the same two. This last one he seems a bit more warrior than spy. So I might choose the first one...maybe color the thing on his chest orange to see how it goes?

Heck he can just wear both. When he's being a spy he wears the first one. When he's tearing through Khund ships he wears this one. The blue and gold for the disco...and next I will make a glow in a dark aquatic uniform for Dev-Em...ok maybe not. wink

Cool idea Jorge. He's not actually a super-hero he's a super AGENT (of space) laugh Government agents get to wear all kinds of cool outfits and play with really neat toys. There's no reason Dev would only have one suit of clothes like some ordinary Kryptonian.

Jrog, the all look great. Have to admit that I like the last one posted and tha blue one the best. IF you did this last one with blue in place of the purple and gold in place of the orange it would kick a**! laugh

Teenage menace to Superboy Dev-Em! Still can't believe his debut was 1961?!

And then Dev-Em all growns up and a member of the Inter-Stellar Counter-Intelligence Corps lends Superboy and Mon-El a hand...but Superboy still holds a grudge. I made this Dev-Em bigger cause in the cover he looks like a big stud.

I've always loved Dev-Em. The notion of a Kryptonite rogue who was a spy rather than a straight-up hero was always cool. All this talk of redesign made me give it a shot. I tend to not want to deviate from classic designs, but here is my update. I aimed it a little away from being a "super-suit" since he's not a super hero.
