My favorite Nudie suit story: There's an episode of To Tell the Truth featuring famed country songwriter "Whispering" Bill Anderson. As I recall, all three of the contestants purporting to be Anderson are dressed in the typical rhinestone-covered outfits typical of country performers of the day. One of the panelists (Kitty Carlisle, I believe) is incredibly fascinated by the outfits they are wearing, and even at the end, after Anderson is revealed, says something along the lines of "I still don't get why you're wearing the costume!" What's funny is that Anderson sometimes tells this story as a way of demonstrating the fact that "city folk" don't get "country folk". Yeah... because wearing one of those bizarre things has a whole lot to do with working on the farm.

I didn't remember the suits because I purposefully blocked them out. Grew up with porter wagner and jim ed brown and helen cornelius on the tv early sunday mornings. some punishments should be reserved for hell and hell alone.
