I saw the new Zach Snyder film this evening. The ads looked amazing so made plans to see it. Then the reviews started to come out. Boy, this movie got panned. I didn't see a single positive review, and most them weren't just negative. They were downright nasty.

I ended up enjoying it. It's confusing for sure. Perhaps pretentious. There is definitely room to debate the charges of sexism leveled at the film. There is also room to argue that there is a message of empowerment. The film gets props for the visual effects and originality. I would much rather see a film fail by taking risks that are too big than by playing it safe. Nobody played it safe with this enterprise. Good for them.

Feh. Critics are full of hot air, including me when I'm bitching about something.

This isn't a movie I will go out of my way to see in the theatre (such things are reserved for instant classics like the STRANGERS WITH CANDY movie) but I will rent it for sure.

This will be a rental. Zach is beginning to look like another Tim Burton for me. Not goign out of my way to see his movies, but wanting to always check them out eventually because of the visuals they come up with.

Whenever people that don't do but "criticize" for a living all jump one way, I tend to really disbelieve anything they say. Especially when they all start parroting each other.

The actors & dialogue were so stiff & wooden , the characters & situations so cliche & overdone, that it kept me from totally immersing myself into the action scenes-which were actually kinda fun.
Well, 2 of the 4 big fight scenes were fun, the other 2 were so-so.
If I was 20 years younger, I know I would have loved this movie. In fact, I have no doubt that it'll eventually achieve cult status.

Just finally rented this. Odd movie, and totally bizarre premise. A reality with a fantasy world within a fantasy world.

The action sequences were done really well. Snyder has an amazing eye for visuals and action sequences. I personally love his camera work.

Not his best film by any stretch of the imagination, but interesting.
