OK, so the first big tennis tournament of the year has begun... the Australian Open. Anyone here a tennis fan?

Federer looks a bit rusty (not just his first match, but Roddick beat him last week in an exhibition match), but is still probably the most likely to take it, with Roddick & Blake looking good lately, and Nadal probably a threat, and Djokovic looking like the strongest of the young guns...

I'm watching Jeklena Jankovic on the women's side... as one tennis commentator said, she is possessed by demons. But Clijsters and Sharapova are probably the smart picks (Henin Hardenne is absent)...

I get the feeling there will be nothing but the sound of crickets when I return to this thread.

I watch (and play) tennis when I have the time. I guess I was more excited when the Americans were a more dominant force but it's still fun to watch. Have you played Top Spin for the X-Box? If you're not paying close attention, it can look fairly realistic from far away.

Imagine my surprise and delight when I saw TWO posts, even if one of them was <chirp>, which was very well-deserved.

MEL, I don't <gasp> have an x-box, so I have never played Top Spin! Maybe I will be able to try it at a friend's place soon.

BTW, American men look to do well in the Open, but the American women are in a sad state.
