1. INDEPENDENT WOMEN Part 1 . Destiny's Child -- There should have been no doubt Beyonce was going to become a megastar from her first appearance (DC's first single BILLS BILLS BILLS placed # 13 for 1999), and they ruled the year 2000.
4. MUSIC . Madonna -- Staying power, huh?
6. DOESN'T REALLY MATTER . Janet Jackson -- The last good Janet song? Nah, that was probably "Someone To Call My Lover".
7. SAY MY NAME . Destiny's Child -- Let there be no doubt these girls are HOT.
8. BE WITH YOU . Enrique Iglesias -- *swOOOOn*
11. IT'S GONNA BE ME . NSYNC -- This was fun.
13. EVERYTHING YOU WANT . Vertical Horizon -- This is good, but I prefer "Best I Ever Had".
15. TRY AGAIN . Aaliyah -- Recently burned a CD with this on it; it's fun.
18. BREATHE . Faith Hill -- A lovely country/pop power-ballad.
23. JUMPIN' JUMPIN' . Destiny's Child -- All you fellas, leave your girl with their friends, 'cause it's 11:30 and the club is jumpin' jumpin'!
25. THONG SONG . Sisqo -- Okay, this cheesy ditty was a lot of fun.
36. I TRY . Macy Gray -- Her debut album ON HOW LIFE IS is flawless, as is this, her first single.
40. ABSOLUTLEY (STORY OF A GIRL) . Ninedays -- This was a great, catchy tune!

Lash, Bootylicious sampled Stevie. (She was in the video, too.)

D'oh! You're so right!
Independent Women has the whole "I BOUGHT IT" chorus.
I Edited to correct the error.
Meanwhile, I'm all revved up to see Beyonce & J-Hud in DREAMGIRLS!

This chart makes 2000 look like a vast freaking wasteland of crap. This is NOT what I was listening to in 2000...

21. YOU SANG TO ME . Marc Anthony
Blagggh!
Unfortunately, it's one of my sister's favorites. When I visited down her way a couple years ago, wherever we went, she had to play it over and over in her car stereo.

I was a freshman in college in 2000. Destiny's Child, Christina, Aayliah...man, the girls were *shaking* it in 2000. I was a happy camper, even if it wasn't 'my music'
"Get it on Tonite" by Montell Jordan...heh, flashbacks of awkward college freshman hook-ups! What was more awkward than a room full of drunk 18 year olds suddenly all partnering off in the corners...?

"Thong Song" was SOOOO played out for Spring Break 2000. I still cringe at it to this day worse than 'Mo Money Mo Problems' from 1997!
