I think there was a brave and bold he did with Bats and the Legion. This was one of the men that defined Batman for me as a kid and a reader.

His art style was distinctive. Perhaps not as realistic as Neal Adams' was, he nevertheless was a consumate professional from what i have always heard about him.

My condolences to his family. He will be missed by more than just this one fan.

Here's a link to the announcement at Newsarama. Sad day indeed. [Frown]

Jim Aparo may not have had a flashy style that would have made him one of THE artists, but he always drew consistently well. Knowing Jim Aparo drew a book meant that you didn't have to worry about finding bad artwork.

My condolences to his family

Sorry Pov. Rick's was the first one I saw in the Last Posts when I posted.

No, no problem. I was just saying. [Wink]

As I said there, he was THE Bat-artist. And passed away too soon. Ironically, -his- Outsiders are making somewhat of a comeback soon.

I didn't see it either, Pov. Not trying to steal any attention. I just thought people would want to know. this was the man that introduced me to Batman on a regular basis. I wanted people to know that a real master, not the posers of today, had passed.

A very sad day indeed. I think for all of us Gen X'ers, the last generation to discover comics solely on the newsstand, Aparo was THE Batman artist, just as, for many of us, Curt Swan was THE Superman artist.

Whenever I picture Bats in my mind's eye, it's an Aparo drawing I see. Can't help it.

That was exactly, word for word, what I would like to say. Perfect analogy to Swan, also.

My prayers are with his friends and family.
