His voice is AMAZING! Even after all these years. Y'know how you see an artist like him in concert and ya feel kinda bad cuz they've kinda lost it? NOT SMOKEY!!! Wow! What a great library of songs and so entertaining! Had a blast!

I would love to see Smokey. What was the show stopper number, Dean?

Well, the finale was "Crusin" and he split the audience in half, and had one side compete with the other side to be most enthusiastic as they sang "I love it when we're crusin' together." However there were a lot of great songs; "Tracks of My Tears" got a huge reaction. I happen to absolutely love "Who's Lovin' You" which was made famous by the Jackson 5 and Terence Trent D'arby. Smokey's live version of it blew every other version I've heard AWAY!

I'm glad you saw and enjoyed him. I'm also glad he's not in the condition I thought he was, which -- you'll have to forgive me -- was dead.
We've lost so many acting and music legends in the last couple years that I could have been crossing wires. Or thinking of Marvin Gaye. The years blur together sometimes *sigh*

Glad it was a good show. You never know when a perfomer who falls into the "oldies" category is going to still be giving 100% and who's phoning it in. I saw James Brown once and it was just horrible. Robinson seems like the type who would treat his body of work with respect and put some effort forth.
It's why I never have seen what's left of the Beach Boys. I know Mike Love was a big part of the BB mix, but I don't trust him to put any effort forth. At least Brian Wilson has surrounded himself with sympathetic musicians who elevate his shows and make them special occasions.

Damn! Smokey.
Now if only i could catcha show with Levi and the Tops. But the last i saw, someone else was fronting them.
Still, Smokey is more than cool. He's what the youngsters of today that try to hard to be cool wish they could be.

Smokey's one of the greats, and it's cool you got to see him, Dean.
Most people know about the voice, but he's also one of the best and most underrated lyricists in pop.
