3 Landers are scheduled to touch down on Martain soil between tonight and late January.
Anyone want to lay odds on how many of them actually make it safe and broadcast back a signal?

Still no word from Beagle 2 but I think the next contact attempt is 1/7/04. But in a little of 30 minutes from now NASA's Rover will be landing on the Martian surface.
Any one want to bet if it makes it or not?

I was really wondering about why there were so many failures with these things. Little green men, or just Murphy's Law?
Some ex-astronaut (don't remember who) gave an interview a few months ago and talked about how they went to the moon with pencils, paper and slide rules. A bit of exaggeration but his point was that the 60s were a time of great imagination and do-anything attitude, which had become stifled by the bureaucracy of NASA today.

I'm so excited that Rover has landed. I can hardly wait until the pictures start coming. Wouldn't it be amazing if it came across some manufactured artifact, not left by a previous earth mission? That would sure put the world in a tizzy.

well they found life on mars, microscopic, but apparently life. While here on earth we debate whats considered abortion, are we killing a life or just the fetus, but we found on mars though.
