and come out with "tennis" elbow...and possibly diabetes.

So, I have a sore elbow from lifting something several months back. I can swing a golf club and a slingblade, but lifting a cup of tea straight up hurts like nobody's business.

I go in to get checked, and my wife, who made the appointment, also wants them to check my sugar since I have a family history. A family member checked it one day (after a round of golf, a responsibly consumed beer, and two glasses of pepsi [this is south carolina, people, it was 103 in the shade today, and just as hot last sunday] and it was in the 400's. next day it was in the low 300's.

I've had a suspicion...like i say, I have a heavy family history so I know all about it, and its one of the reasons I quit with so much soda and lost about 25 pounds. still, I'm hoping that a good diet and exercise will control it since those are my two weakness's when it comes to sweets.

My wife found something called stevia, and so far, it tastes much better than that artifical crap that tastes like a chemical dump.

All this is a roundabout way of saying... DON'T GET OLD, ITS NO FUN AND NOT FOR SISSIES!

My dad had diabetes. It's no fun, even if you don't need needles, so I hope you plan on watching your diet! I've heard stevia is great stuff. I've also heard it can increase your appetite, but I don't know how much you need to take for that to happen.

Hmmm. Hadn't heard that about the appetite. I've been working hard to curb it lately. One thing I found, laying off the sodas reduces a bloated belly. And once thats gone and you aren't mainlining high fructose corn syrup, weight drops pretty good. I've gone from around 255 to between 225 and 231, which is actually below my target of 232.

And I've managed to get in better shape, and have much more stamina in every day life since I've been working a tiller in the hot sun and cutting back on cigars.

But I don't want to sabotage with stevia if it works on my appetite. I'll mention it to the doc if he thinks I am. Thanks Arachne.

By the way, BoP and the Six are just flat out fun. Six is twisted, demented, and a rib tickler.

No, colonoscopy. Ummm, no. Ain't hap'nen, not even if he kisses me first. No.

My wife loves me and I know it, and I love her. Thats why I didn't get to ticked off when she ambushed me. I didn't like it, but still...

Hey, gettin' rid of the man boobs, or "moobs" has helped a lot, lol.

[LOL]

The sad thing is: I work for a company that sells fitness wear. I loathe gyms and yoga classes and I'm not eating any better or worse than I ever have, but I spend eight hours a day now running around in circles over and over again in a space as big around as 2.5 city blocks.

So, yeah. I dropped a couple of pounds. This has not, however, made me skinny. It's just made me a fat chick whose clothes don't fit quite as well as they used to.

I dragged out the one tank top I owned to wear to work today, now that it's finally feeling summery outside. mr_cleome looked me over before work and said that I really should own more than one tank top.

What a b.s.-artist!

Spouses are so adorable! [Big Grin]

I expect stevia is still better for you than artificial sweetners. And waaayyy beter than the high fructose stuff.

I'm loving both titles. I've halfway through the first trade of the ongoing S6 now. Great stuff. I hope there's a crossover between the two titles. the Huntress/Catman stuff in the first crossover was a blast.

Well, I lost enough weight and my A1C level is back in the normal range, so I don't have to take the metformin anymore.

Diabetes is not fun. Been a Tyoe 1 for 27 years...more shots than you really want to think about. Take care of yourself and avoid this end as long as humanly possible.

this is why ever diabetic i know is a damn dour person. Ya can't eat.

they'll give you these guidelines to follow to try and "manage" your diabeties, but a) the food is frankly something they dragged up from the horse barn or b) something they scrapped up from the floor of the horse barn or c) so horribly inedible from the chemical dump they call artificial sweetener or d) just awful tasting.

and the horrible secret of the silent killer is... it doesn't matter what you eat, it still raises your blood sugar.

then you go to the store and everthing is geared to being sweet. if not, its loaded with salt.

Even the diabetic cookbook my wife found... is loaded with sugar.

AND I CAN'T EAT MY FREAKIN POPCORN! YOU BASTARD, YOU'VE TAKEN MY POPCORN!

I honestly feel like tearin' someone head off and takin' a mighty steamin'...eh, sorry, this isn't appropriate.

I've never been dour. Cranky... yes. Grumpy...yes. Irritated...most definitely... but dour...no.

So, I was told the other day by the PT/Chiropractor that I'm seeing for my elbow now that I can't take the shots anymore that Cinnamon and an herb called Gymenama or something like that also helps get sugar under control. seems to work pretty well when I don't overload it with bad.

I try to be good during the week and saturdays', letting Sunday be my "bad" day. They took me off the Metformin due to some nasty side effects and put me on Onglyza, I think its spelled. its a once a day pill that helps regulate. But, with it, cutting out as much sugar and the starches that store as sugar, I'm finally getting down to about 125 regularly on my testing. (the gym has helped as well)

Problem is, I can't go when I'm in the 120's. Below, yes, above, yes, but in that range, I'm like a big, energyless lump... even with the vitamins I'm taking. I've gone from no pills to four different kinds in the morning. I don't like it, but there ya go.

I feel for you guys, I really REALLY do! My wife's father and my mother both have type 1 so I know the crosses you both bear. [Frown]

You both have my support, encouragement and best heart-felt wishes that it somehow leaves your bodies and NEVER comes back!
