Bid now stands at £100 ($175 ?)

Now, living in Aberdeen and having access to Aitkens Rowies any time I want at approx 30p each makes me want to say that that's way over the score.

However, if I was living in the middle of the Australian Outback, Or up a mountain in Central America etc. etc. then it's probably a price worth paying .

But only because it would bring with it a very large dose of nostalgia, and endless memories.

For rowie virgins, however, I wouldn't recommend paying that much. I could probably get you two or three for that price. [Wink]

Cripes! He doesn't ship outside the UK. For £100 couldn't you just take the train up to Aberdeen and buy one?

I'll wait to bid on the rowie with the face of Jesus on it.

Looking for that mad spike of frenzied last minute bidding: £350.80 and 3 hours left to bid.

Check out the "questions and answers" - Fit like, they're written in Klingon or some other strange language. [Wink] Fit like??

Yeah, and you thought that some of my stories were a bit garbled...

"Fit like?" is a common greeting around here - it actually means "how are you?" ("what like").

The phrase "fur aboots" has been picked up by various people who refer to Aberdeen as Furry Boots Land. Probably because it's one of the first phrases that 'outsiders' hear - "fur aboots are yi fae" meaning "where abouts are you from".

Even I have a problem understanding some of the things that are talked about in the questions.

Well, in the last two minutes of bidding the price jumped from £420 to £620.

That's the equivalent of $1,104.53

Holy Bat, Shitman!

Oh, it's a GIANT rowie - that's different, then. It must be worth £620, even if the winner lives in Aberdeen and could have walked to the shop himself. But it's for charity. [choke]

It hasn't been the best of times, it hasn't been the worst of times, for rowies. [Smile]
