I'm not talking about Superman: The Animated Series. I'm talking about THE animated Superman toons, the ones done by Max Fleischer.

Did you know they are now public domain and available for anyone wanting to download them? Internet Archive has what I think are most if not all of the episodes available. You can find them here. Just query Superman.

You'll find a lot of public domain films and stuff available at Internet Archive. One of the most recent additions is Plan 9 From Outer Space.

Apart from the excellent animation, the thing that amazed me was finding out the Fleisher cartoons had the same actors who played Superman & Lois Lane on the radio show (essentially the first actors to ever play those characters) --AND, that both actors were brought back for THE NEW ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN by Filmation in 1966-- the 1st Superman tv series I ever saw! (It's sort of the equivalent of actually getting Adam West to voice the cartoons-- which he didn't, at first-- but about 10 years later, did!)

Now, if just ANYBODY had ever bothered to get the actors from the 60's SPIDER-MAN cartoons to come back for later versions, maybe some of them would have been more worth watching!

Thanks for reminding me this sight existed, I forgot how much stuff is there. I watched Plan 9 for the first time just last week. It had a strange charm.

I have some of them on VHS and i love them. They were light years ahead of their time and still hold up well in technical terms.

I like them much better than say the current Titans show. The style was richer, the colors deeper, the storylines better and more tight.

I also liked the Superman series on CBS around the late eighties, early nineties that had great art, not the Timm inspired stuff.
