For arguement's sake, let's be wrong and say it started at 1/1/2000.

I'll give you the X-Men's. It was so simple and so well-done that it literally sent chills down my spine. In like issue #5 or whatever of Astonishing X-Men, Colossus comes back from the dead, and in a way that could really get past any stupid comic book debates about resurrection/continuity/etc., because it addressed the fundamental question real X-Men fans would have: how did Kitty feel about it. *BUT*, even better than that, the very next issue (or two), with Peter rejoining the team in mid-battle, things are all crazy, and the villain is about to get away, and the X-Men have nothing to do, and Cyclops has no plan, and finally Wolverine turns to Colossus, twenty-five years plus real life history pulsating in his dialogue and says 'I've got two words for you'.

Turn the page. Double-page spread of Wolverine flying through the air. No words on the page. Colossus down on the ground, having just hurled him.

No one needed to say it. "Fastball Special."

And the X-Men finally felt right again. After a loooong time.

that is also my favorite!!! (about 2 pages of kitty with her jaw dropping) which is the same expression i had on my face reading it. i don't think i've ever been shocked/misty eyed reading a comic before. (glad i didn't flip through at the store)
and i remember being gidding during the fastball special.

also great are kitty and emma's continuing cattiness.

That is an excellent moment for sure.

Another would be the Kon-El vs SP fight in IC. With all the problems of that series, it was a hell of a moment. Too Conner take on full-on Kryptonian after having had the crap kicked out of him was pretty fufilling.

Another from IC is Dick nailing Alex...it gave us hope for his character. Unfortunately, it doesn't look to be paying off in his series.

I was going to say the THUNDERBOLTS unmasking, but a quick internet search revealed that was in the late 1990's... my time sense must be off.

So, instead I'll say the reveal of the identities of the kids' parents in RUNAWAYS.

A true jawdropper of a scene.

-Though the solution of the murder at the heart of IDENTITY CRISIS and some of what happened to the characters may deplete the stock of that series, the funeral of the character killed and the scenes leading up to it are definitely among the most memorable comic book pages printed in this time span.

-The reveal-after-reveal that was the Palmiotti/Gray HAWKMAN run, the highlight of which was probably Hawkman's 'death' at the claws of the manhawks... followed by *his* 'funeral'.

-Catman among the lions in VILLAINS UNITED

And from otherwise questionable issues or series...

-Batman finally adopting Dick Grayson
-the first sight of a returned Donna Troy
-Livewire's sacrifice at the end of LEGION LOST

Newest Captain America run, one of the early issues. Cap's fighting the AIM Drones, when the Winter Soldier shows up, and all he can say is

"...Bucky?"

Live Wire in Legion Lost... Hands down the most memorable/moving moment for me in the alotted time frame.

A second enjoyable moment for me was in Ultimate Spider-man recently... There was an all out brouhaha going with a couple street gangs, some police, ultimate Elektra, ultimate Black Cat, and Ultimate Spidey right in the middle of it. People switching allegiances in the middle of the fight, double crosses... you get the idea. At the end, Black Cat and Spidey end up on the roof and she's coming on to him... give the hero a reward... you know. She's hot and bothered, warm for the form and all, then she removes his mask to give him a kiss... what happened next had me laughing out loud. Classic.

Another recent moment was in JLA... this might not be in the alotted time frame, but it ain't too far off... but Barda was looking for something formal to wear to some event. She picks out a nice red dress from a hangar in her closet. Puts it on, and in the next frame you see that the red dress is actually not a dress at all.

Anybody want me to spoil these scenes for them?

Alright, alright already, here goes:
Click Here For A SpoilerIn Ultimate Spidey... once she gets his mask off, she goes, "Ewwww! Just how old are you?" And leaves all disgusted by the age difference. I was rolling.

In the JLA moment the red dress actually turned out to be Plastic Man in disguise.

The reveal of the killer in the first Invincible arc was a great moment too.
