Is it just me, or is being bored and rich not used nearly enough any more as a motivation for super-heroes and villains?

Another classic origin!
By the way, Eryk, read GLA (Great Lakes AVengers). All the bored, rich people who don't become superheroes are doing it.

We all know the real reason bored rich people aren't becoming superheroes these days. They're getting better offers on Reality TV.
So if the DC universe were rebooted today we'd get new series such as:
Ollie Queen: Bachelor a comic about an old single guy who picks a partner amongst a group of younger single women contestants. Challenges often revolve around Queen's drug addict adopted son, such as an issue where Roy suffering the withdrawal symptoms shoots arrows at apples held by the contestants.
Lex Luthor Billionaire: A comic where he gives money for life saving operations and such but only after the grant recipient are humiliated and Lexcorp gets a tax write-off.

Hmm... I actually think there's a pretty good story to be told based on the notion of constumed avenging suddenly become a trend among young, rich socialites...

I miss the days when being bored and rich usually meant the guy was a scientist on the side!

And chauffeurs were all trained martial artists!

Of course! And both would have their sleeves rolled up while working in some kind of factory lab thing. When the female entered the room, she was usually told it was far too dangerous for her to be in there!

And the villains were bored, rich people too - but with a grudge.

...against the bored, rich hero because he "out-bored" and out-richeed" the bored, rich villain!

Of course, most villains were mad scientists as well!
