Oh and maybe this whole thing will lead to kids actually reading comics again? Marketing wise that could be awesome.

AGREED!! Dc could enjoy side benefits here for sure.
quote:10TH UPDATE: I get the impression that Universal lawyers right now are scrutinizing their theme park licensing and merchandising contracts with Marvel. Universal has just updated its earlier statement to me to say this, "Marvel Super Hero Island at Universal’s Islands of Adventure and the Marvel characters are an important part of the Universal Orlando experience. They will remain so. Our agreement with Marvel stands for as long as we follow the terms of our existing contract and for as long as we want there to be a Marvel Super Hero Island." So privately Universal execs tell me they've got the Marvel characters "until the end of time if we want them" and use phrases like "in perpetuity". But here's the rub: a Universal insider tells me the studio only retain the existing characters it's already made use of. Sure there are Spider-Man and Hulk attractions, but what about all the other characters? Do those revert to Disney?
11TH UPDATE: Here's the list of characters included on Marvel Island -- Spider-Man (also attraction), Dr. Doom (also attraction), Hulk (also attraction), Storm (also attraction), Captain America, Cyclops, Green Goblin, Rogue, Storm, Wolverine, "and lots more if you include stores and dining," a Uni exec tells me.

while a lot of bad things can happen i think a lot of good can come too, if diseny runs Marvel any way close to how Wb runs Dc then any one who gets worked up over the buy out has nothing to worry about
on the pulse side if Disney starts making marvel toys for the shops we may see the return of the Wb stores (which i still morn the lose of)
lots of company's don't change the way they do things unless they have a scare put into them, this may even push the DC into something better

I'm not worrying about it. there will be some changes, sure. Pixar is suddenly doing sequels, but who hasn't been expecting that?
Its why I wasn't all up in arms that Marvel was developing a "movie" wing. Its just business. If Disney decides that they can make more off the characters their way, they will change things, if not, they won't.

Hannah Montana as Spidey's new g/f in Ultimate Spider-Man. You know Bendis would do it in a second.

"Disney’s acquisition of Marvel is expected to have no effect on Universal Studios Florida, where visitors ride on attractions themed to Spider-Man and pose for photos with the Incredible Hulk at the Islands of Adventure theme park.
“Our agreement with Marvel stands for as long as we follow the terms of our existing contract and for as long as we want there to be a Marvel Super Hero Island,” said Universal Studios Florida spokesman Tom Schroder."
