Anyone picking this up? I picked up the first issue (#7) on a whim after a reccomendation by 'Boot, and I have to say that I am really, really enjoying this.

The new Scorpion is fresh and fun, and a very likeable character. The story is written in a very smart and intelligent manner, and is probably the best spy drama from Marvel that I've ever read besides the early Silver Age SHIELD stories.

A young spunky female Scorpion, with excellent spy drama and an already very interesting supporting cast--I give it my highest reccomendation! Take it from a major Spidey fan, and even bigger Silver Age Spidey villain fan: the Scorpion name is being used to the fullest advantage.

I'd say this is in my list of Marvel's top-five best comics right now, and at only four issues into the series.

Hahaha. Well, it's only a six-issue arc, I believe so... yeah.

Anyway, I love the new Scorpion too. Of course, I have no idea who the old one is or anything but... whatever. I think it's pretty sweet as. I'm really enjoying it as well.

As one of the few people who actually wants to read House of M, I happened to pick up the Incredible Hulk tie-in. Much to my surprise -- the new Scorpion, her mother and her male friend were all featured!! (Along with not-so-deceased Pyro, Exudus and some other classic Brotherhood/Magneto followers.)

Anyway, I can't wait to see what develops with her. I think she's really fun and interesting and the idea as a whole is pretty fresh and cool.

In other words, I'm a fan. [Big Grin]

Cali, I just read the Hulk issue too, and was pleasantly surprised to see Carmilla and company there, along with some good Peter David writing and a House of M tie-in. Hopefully this'll get some more people interested in the character!

Yeah!! Agreed.

I was surprised and confused (in a good way) because never before have I been so happy that I picked up an issue of the Hulk!!

I'd really like to pick this series up because it looks great from the previews I've seen but I'll have to wait until the tpb comes out since there's no comic stores up here.

I just finally got the digest yesterday and I freaking love it. I can't wait to read more adventures of Carmilla. It's got a great mix of drama, action, and humor. Seriously people if you haven't picked this up you should ASAP!

I'm bumping this b/c Carm recently appeared in Doc Samson (which I was unaware of until now). So to keep fans of the new Scorpion updated, post here when she's going to appear!

Any idea where she'll appear next?

Things like the new Scorpion show the well-written/risk-taking Marvel that often does not get enough press and is overshadowed by the larger In Your Face New Avengers/X/Spidey/Bendis Marvel.

My introduction to the new Scorpion was through the Hulk HoM tie-ins (the only HoM tie-ins I read, incidentally.) Next time I'm at the comic shop, I'll browse through the digest collecting her first story, and see what I think. Thanks to Cobie for this thread and to Reboot for being the first to recommend it.

I was confused at first when I saw her referred to as Carmilla instead of Thasanee. So I went on Wikipedia, and found the explanation that, in the normal reality, she was adopted, but in the HoM reality, she was raised by her biological mother.

Quite honestly, in the Hulk HoM tie-ins, I found Dr. Monica Rappacini more interesting than her daughter, even though Monica was a villainess. I actually cheered at the end of the HoM story when she (literally) got away with murder, and again at the end of Hulk # 87, when (back in normal reality) she escaped. Ah well, my twisted admiration for villainesses in this mold (i.e. Irina Derevko from the TV show Alias) has been well-documented here at LW.

I also find her intersting Stealth, and her character alone provides a degree of interest in AIM that hasn't been seen in a looooong time. Scorpion's entire supporting cast is cool, which I don't think were seen in the Hulk HoM issues.

Here's hoping for more of them all!

Supporting cast? I'm even more intrigued now. But I won't find out more until the week of the 22nd, because I've decided to make my next trip to the comic shop as close as possible to the release date of S&LSH #16.

In the meantime, I re-read Hulk # 83-84 last night.

There's no denying that PAD gave Dr. R the best lines.

"And I remind you, Doctor [Isaacs], that my daughter, Thasanee, risks her life as "Scorpion" in every battle for human liberation we face...while your "son" is, in reality, a glorified toaster oven. So let's get a grip, shall we?"

The Poison Tomorrow team (van Lente & Kirk) did a Scorpion vs. Scorpion-Venom backup in Spider-Man Family, BTw.

Scoprion is appearing in the Hulk issues of 'World War Hulk', working with SHIELD (Gabe Jones specifically).

Cool scenes with Amadeus Cho, who IMO is a kind of breakout star for the entire World War Hulk event.
