I did once go to a demo at Safeway, back in my Union days. Somebody brought along wire cutters so we could all cut up our Safeway cards in front of a photographer who'd come from the AFL-CIO house organ to cover the event. The security guy scolded us for bringing "a dangerous weapon" into the store, so we just went outside quietly and did the cutting/picture-taking in the parking lot.
No brandishing, no ejection, no harm, no foul.

I actually have seven nephews, a niece and a grand-niece--nine in all.
And before anyone asks, our choir wears academic hoods when we sing certain services, such as Evensong. It's mostly an English tradition, but some American choirs do it also. And so, I decided to buy myself a master's hood (And yes, I have the degree!).

I have sat, and danced my way Through several GE&tMSM concerts. Including front row seats.
I did do a play that a former teacher wrote as a favor. Play was not so good, but he needed someone that could handle the issues that the other cast members were causing.

Bill Murray has a residence near where I work and has shopped there on several occasions. (He's also a co-owner of our local minor league baseball team.) Once he was picking out a DVD with his son and I recommended "Groundhog Day"!

I did meet Patrick Troughton at a Chicago Dr. Who convention. He was in the hall waiting to go on to a panel when I past him. Hegave me his autograph when I asked him.
I did go into a salt mine when I went to Poland. It is the Wieliczka Salt Mine. It was pretty amazing, especially the church in the mine with rock salt chandeliers.
But I have never swum in the Mediterranean Sea. I haven't even been close enough to swim in it.

Awesome! I remember his speech was very critical of what he perceived the new film to be...something you wouldn't want your kids to watch. He wasn't really wrong.
West's Batman was many things, but it was a fun and entertaining romp you could watch with kids. I love the Burton films and Nolan's as well, but I can't really watch them with my kids.
There's always the excellent Brave and the Bold cartoon, at least.

I appeared in a local ABC talk show (Kelly & Co) when I was 19. It was a show about Alopecia, which is the reason I have no hair.
My Senior year in HS, our basketball team got to play a game on the Pistons home court before an actual NBA game. Got to meet several players briefly...this was before they moved to the Palace.

Although I can barely play, I went on a couple of European tours with a group of organists and managed to work up what was more or less a fake book arrangement of a simple hymn tune and played it at Notre-Dame. On another trip, the group was invited to sit in the choir at Evensong at Westminster Abbey.
As for Washington National Cathedral, a few people from the church choir I have sung with for many years went there as part of a diocesan choir that sang on Texas Sunday (each state is honored on a different Sunday during the year) a few years ago, but I was not able to make that trip.

1) I used to co-own a house not far from where I live now. It didn't work out, so I sold my share to the co-owner and bought a smaller place. Later, the future mr_cleome gave up his swinging bachelorhood to help me save on bills. But I did live alone for a while, which was great, actually.
The old house was bigger and nicer, but the current one is in a quieter part of town. Plus it's near more bus lines. Win some, lose some.
2) Andy Warhol was mr_cleome's 2nd cousin, twice-removed. No lie. My FIL has met Andy's two brothers, who are also artists.
3) My first reaction to Tintin as a little girl was, "There's no girls in this comic so it sucks."
My opinion remains unchanged to this day.

I've never, ever been on a plane. It just hasn;t happened. I haven't been out of the southeast U.S. If I ever do take a plane ride, I imagine I'll be quite stressed and sure in my belief that it will crash. 40 years (and counting) of not flying can play tricks on your mind!
I'm afraid of dogs. I don't like their tendency to jump up, lick your face or bark at you. Sometimes I think if there was no fence between them and me as I innocently walk by the vicinity of their house, that they'd charge me and tear my throat out. Even really small ones make me feel uncomfortable. (I imagine this is why it didn't work out between Rocky and me! )
However, I LOVE rollercoasters! My mom's always been terrified of them, but ever since I tried one, I've been crazy about them. I especially love the ones that are ridden with your legs dangling!

My true hair color is brunette, but I've never considered it a nice shade of brown; it used to almost remind me of cockroach-brown; so I've changed my hair color many times over the years, but I don't think I'll be doing it anymore...hey, maybe I'm finally learning to love myself.

I love strawberries. To me, there's no chocolate-free dessert better than good-quality strawberries with real cream.

Well, my roommate did scare me a little. He had been having a rough morning with little things going wrong and he just got so angry. The anger was not directed at me at all, but still it was a little scary.
And last night I did die twice. I was playing AD&D and my character got chomped by a lion. The party had a wish ring and used one of the wishes to bring me back to life. At the very next encounter, I rolled a 1 (an automatic miss) in getting out of the way of a red dragon's fire breath. I then rolled and got a critical hit, which resulted in me getting double the hit point loss and dying a second time. The party then had to use a second wish to bring me back to life again.
I did lie when I said I was invited to a party yesterday. I did get invited to my brother's cook-out the day before yesterday. But no party invites yesterday.

1) I had two small pieces published by Fantagraphics, back in the late 1990s. One was a collage-comic hybrid and the other was a straight-up collage. They appeared on the back cover of two issues of Roberta Gregory's Naughty Bits.

1) Although I'm mainly a sectional singer and not a soloist, I have sung by myself a few times, most recently when I cantored a psalm about two years ago.
2) My career in musical theatre pretty much started and ended with a fifth-grade production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (in the title role).
3) I have at one time or another a regular patron of the Napoleon Club in Boston and the Briar Patch in Houston (both now defunct). I miss those places. Sing-along piano bars are great.

I have been to Orange Bowl watching Miami Dolphins so many times and my Great Aunt Zoe lived near the Bowl making me so easily to walk all the way to there sometimes snuck there - good memories!
I have been to Coors Fields watching the Rockies and so many times homerun were so easily hit over the fence because of high altitude...
then despite me living in Washington DC for more than 5 years, I have not touched my foot at FedEx Field.

I have heard of several earthquakes happening in my part of the country, but never felt one. Until the recent earthquake in Virginia. I felt that.
When I was young, we lived about a mile or 2 from some gas storage tanks. One noght there was an accident and BOOM!!. But I slept through it. People further away were woken up by the explosion. Also, my house was right on the route the fire trucks took to get to the explosion, but not even there sirens woke me up.
And even though we would get water in our basement, we were never flooded out.

Peanut butter and honey make a pretty good combo (and are less fattening than butter and maple syrup). Sometimes I add some yogurt to the mix.
HWL has it. Mayo + ham does taste pretty good, but ever since I started dieting, the taste of mayo has disagreed with me.

I can do needlepoint, counted cross-stitch, and hooked rugs. But I never learned to crochet.
I took flute lessons for a few months in Junior High School. The less said about that, the better.
I did indeed cut down an evergreen by hand. Took me three days, because I didn't own an axe or a chainsaw. I used hedge trimmers, a wire cutter and a bow saw. Also it's too bad that nobody warned me that once pine sap is on your shirt, it stays there forever.

Bruce Willis has annoyed me ever since "Moonlighting". At least on that TV show, he poked fun at himself and everything else. Ever since then, he's played the ultra-cool, ultra-jock hero to boring seriousness. He's George Clooney sans charm.
Owen Wilson also annoys me. I don't think I've ever watched a movie of his all the way through, except for "Shanghai Knights," but that was because Jackie Chan was so much fun to watch. Wilson has the eternal surfer dude persona down pat -- which is fine if you like eternal surfer dudes.
One of my friends insists that the world would be a better place if Shia LeBeouf had never been born. I do not share his opinion; in fact, I have no opinion on LeBeouf since I've never seen any of his movies.

1) Blind date. Goes tolerably, but then I accidentally leave my sketchpad in the backseat of his car. No matter how many times I call him, I never get the damn thing back.
2) Long-distance doomed from Day One "boyfriend" decides that Graduation Week is the perfect time to send me a "Dear Jane" letter. It arrives Graduation Day.
3) Otherwise promising series of dates: either the second or the third. I disremember. We go to see a well-known jazz pianist at the Symphony. My date gets mad at me for whistling when the pianist stands up to take a bow after the performance.

This did happen on my second night shift and Suncor will be paying quite a hefty fine. On my last night I spent around 2 hours being questioned by the higher ups about the incident (as per usual, the brass were looking for a scapegoat). Luckily I knew my proceedure perfectly and they could find no fault in my actions.
3. One of the exchangers sprung a leak, spraying liquid sulphur, which autoignited on contact with air.
This happened too. Liquid sulphur autoignites at around 450F and the exchanger runs hotter than that. Luckily there was someone working in the area who called it in. My coworkers and I had the fire out and the area made safe before the fire dept arrived.

This almost happened but didn't. The amine was about an inch from the top of the sump when I discovered it and got it fixed.

I've been watching "As Time Goes By" for several years; it's a sweet story (but not saccharine) about a couple who parted ways when they were young and reconnect 38 years later. It never fails to entertain with its true-to-life situations.
"Last of the Summer Wine" was the longest-running sitcom on the planet! 31 years of three old guys wandering about town like little boys, getting into mischief and commenting on life. Much better than it sounds.
"The Old Guys" . . . meh. Despite featuring steady-as-she-goes Clive Swift (Richard on "Keeping Up Appearances") and Jane Asher (Paul McCartney's girlfriend pre-Linda), it's a second-rate "Odd Couple."

1) I completed Atwood's book, but it didn't really do much for me. I often hear it compared favorably to Marge Piercy's Woman on the Edge of Time, but the latter was much more to my taste.
2) Ten minutes after finishing The Satanic Verses, I could barely remember the ending, or anything else that happened in it. Except for the (semi-autobiographical) scene where the protagonist gets laughed at in school for not knowing how to eat a kipper.
Of course, that was almost twenty years ago. Maybe I should give it another shot. A person who likes stories about flying aliens in leotards should be better at processing Magical Realism in literature, right?
3) I gave up on Catch-22 about halfway through. The prose seemed leaden and colorless, and it really grated on me that the one recurring female character wasn't ever given any name other than "Nately's Whore." (Maybe Frank Miller is a big fan of this book. )
I still don't know or care how it ended.

Quis, it was more that the style and mannerisms just grated on me like nobody's business. I love Dalton Trumbo's Johnny Got His Gun-- also very depressing and very anti-war. But I think Trumbo was a much better writer than Heller.

I got Gumby and Pokey. I don't think I've ever seen an actual Gumby show, but they're cute.
My other friend, Thom (with an "H"), who has sung in the choir with me for many years, gave me a lovely scarf. Even though Houston doesn't get really cold, I do wear a scarf on colder days.
My mother gave me a Lucille Ball doll that recites the "Vitameatavegamin" commercial and a DVD compilation from the 1960s series The Lucy Show, but not I Love Lucy.

Right with the first guess. Cherub is the name of my niece's dog. Pete was the first dog for me. Hannibal wasn't a pet for long as he ran away and we could not find him. He did have one blue eye and one brown eye, so we think someone took him in.

On Christmas Day, I visited my brother, who likes the finer things in life, such as cigars and Scotch. My contribution to the party was a bottle of mead, which a friend recently introduced me to. After drinking the mead, I smoked a cigar for the first time. However, my brother did not have any Scotch on hand.

Mead is sometimes described as honey wine, though those who make it (I've met a couple) insist that mead is not wine since it's not made from grapes. But if you like honey and you like wine, you ought to love mead.
(There are various flavors of mead, too.)

Never broke a rib, never been water skiing.
I was a passenger in a collision with a police car back in March 1992 - as I was coming back from picking up take away Chinese food, going back to my college in order to watch that evening's film, "A Touch of Evil". He swerved from the oncoming lane into ours to avoid someone who'd cut him off and we broadsided him. Nobody hurt badly, but the cars were totaled, and pretty scary. He spun around into a split rail fence, and one of the railings penetrated his car and grazed him in the head, so it could have been much worse.
In my job for a low-budget TV show on Asian-American culture and events, I met Sushmita Sen, from India, Miss Universe 1994, when she was attending an event promoting some big diamond. Got to interview her briefly, and they were taking free polaroids where you can stand with her. We got two - one for the office with my entire team, and one for me!

Sometimes there's nothing wrong with a particular pop song, but hearing it makes me want to leave the room, because it's indelibly linked in my mind to some crappy event I was living through when it was playing. For example:
1) Swing Out Sister's "Break Out" was playing in a New Jersey bar where I waited tables. The creepy bartender who held court there during my shift threatened to punch me in the face unless I served a patron who'd already arrived at the bar so intoxicated that he could barely stand.
2) Also in the wilds of NJ: Simple Minds' "Sanctify Yourself" was playing the first time I ever took my Driver's Ed test-- in the waiting room after I finished, not in the car, obviously. Not only did I fail the exam spectacularly, I was so flustered that I confused "Park" and "Reverse" and almost rammed into a concrete barrier in the parking lot.
3) "Kicks" by Paul Revere and the Raiders was playing on the loudspeakers one day at Waterfront Park, during the Portland Rose Festival, a couple of minutes after I'd just seen two drunks get into a nasty fight in which one of them tried to hack off the other's ear with a broken bottle. Nos. 1 & 3, sadly, are true. (Though it's also true that I never passed a Drivers Ed test on either coast, and to this day I still can't drive a car.)
The hilarious aspect of No. 3 is that a pre-Reagan anti-drug song was blasting in an area that's pretty legendary for drug dealing, to entertain crowds of drunks. (RL once again triumphing over fiction for bringing in the laughs. Queasy laughs, but still...)
Also, the restaurant mentioned in No. 1 burnt to the ground a few months after I left NJ for good. A former college boss/pal called long distance to let me know, since he knew it would make my day. (And cocaine dealers all over Hudson County flew their flags at half-mast, too. Eighties. BLEAH!)
So HWW wins this round, but I'm okay with it if he wants to pass it back to Quislet, Esq., as payment for the mix-up earlier.

I usually do wait, but it had been a whole day, so I thought that would bump it. I should have been more clear in my response to your guess.
Anyway.
While I was clearing the snow off my front stairs, two guys came walking down the street. One say "Do you have a moment?" I responded "well I'd like to get back inside as soon as possible". He pressed on. The snow here in Boston was only about 2 inches. The guy remarked how some people have already put out barrels to mark their parking spot and he thought that wasn't right as no one really had to dig out a space. At that point I told him that I don't have a car and suggested that he call the mayor's office. The official policy in Boston is that you can reserve your spot with a barrel or other obstacle for one day after a snowstorm. Of course people leave them out for much longer.
Anyway, after that he introduced himself and his companion. And then asked if I was going to watch the Patriots tomorrow (I said, "Nah")
So, what was the name of these two parking wardens?

Ben Nevis is true.
I'd long considered myself to have seen the Arctic Ocean from Northern Norway, but the area I was meets neither the IHO nor CIA definitions. Even Google Maps only lists the area I saw as the Norwegian Sea.

I dislike mayonnaise, though more because of the fat content than because of the taste.
I like chocolate, but more as a standalone snack than with other desserts. IN fact, I rarely eat dessert - but when I do, I sprinkle some cinnamon and nutmeg.

That is the lie. Actually my great niece just had corrective eye surgery for her lazy eyes.
The tattoo I got in San Diego in 2008 and it was Quislet's symbol. It wasn't until later that I realized they had put a cross at the bottom instead of an arrow, making it look more like the female symbol. Had it corrected here in Boston.
My dad taught auto body at the local tech school and had me grade some tests for him once.

I do have 140 fans on the Huffington Post. And the book I am reading is pretty boring. I didn't think it would be. It is a book about firsts. First airplane passenger, first ballet, first envelope, etc. and I am into that sort of thing.
I did not have a funeral to attend today. The funeral is tomorrow, Wednesday. It is for my brother's mother-in-law. She was 94 and passed away peacefully.

Hotcha!
1) Recently, I was jogging on a treadmill at the gym and watching TV. One of the commercials was for Golden Corral's endless chocolate fountain. Directly afterward, I went out and gorged at a Golden Corral buffet, thus rendering my workout perversely counterproductive.
2) Recently, I was jogging on a treadmill at the gym and watching TV. A Travel or Food network show was on, featuring "the best BBQ in Texas" or something similar. Directly afterward, I went out and ate a pound of BBQ brisket, thus rendering my workout perversely counterproductive.

I did see a commercial for Golden Corral's "chocolate wonderfall" and was tempted. However, I changed my mind when I Googled "golden corral chocolate fountain" afterward, and all of Google's top suggestions ended in things like "gross" and "unsanitary." After checking out a few links, all I could think of was the image of kids sticking their entire fists into the chocolate, or fishing things dropped in the chocolate with their hands.
What cracks me up is the "cowboy" with the super-deep voice who says, "S'mores," and then "Too good to be true? Not this time!" I also like the guy whose year was made because he dipped a cherry macaroon in some chocolate... what a life he must have!

Yesterday I went to the dentist to have an impression taken for a crown. Which means I did have goop in my mouth. After the dentist, I went to my gym. When I got off the bus, I saw some blood on the sidewalk. It was as drops. But later the police had roped off that area and another area nearby.
I did not see Michael Moore walking down the street. Although when I was heavier and had a goatee, a couple people told me I looked like Mr. Moore, usually also saying "no offense". One woman just came up to me and said "Michael?" At first I thought she might have mistaken me for my brother Michael, but then I realized she meant Michael Moore.

1) I had the good fortune to see "Mirror Mirror" done live and in costume at the park last summer.
2) Kucinich actually did speak at the park while campaigning back in 2004.
3) The Rosses live in Oregon and perform locally all the time, of course. But I haven't seen them yet, except on YouTube.

I had a burrito with chorizo, potatoes, sour cream, and salsa at a place called the Starpoint Cafe. One of the perks of eating there is free coffee during breakfast hours and, yes, I've been there several times before.

I have been to Tijuana. In the 80s I went to Comic Con with a bunch of friends who had a table there. They all went to the Wednesday setup, but did not have a pass for me. I took the time to take the trolley to the border and walked around Tijuana.
I went to London for 4 days (again in the 80s) I loved the Tower of London tour.
I have never been to Montreal.

1. I have been to San Diego on six of my seven trips to California; the 7th was the only one of those that did not include a flight into or out of the state.
2. I have been to Britain and passed through customs there three times, not counting two times where I only changed planes there whilst going to and from Rome.
3. Airports I have flown into (but never out of) are Houston Hobby, Las Vegas, Burlington VT, and Vancouver.

Hobbies involving vehicles have never been a strong suit of mine, although I did water ski a few times as a teen. I also once drove a motorcycle into a barbed wire fence and still have the scars to prove it.
I never built a go-kart, though. That adventure belonged to a friend of mine and his father.

I bet those scars turn on the ladies. I'm awful with vehicles too - I can't even ride a bike yet, but I am learning! Slowly, but surely.
1) I recently learned to rock climb, and am planning to go on a climb in June.
2) I will teach Blaze to swim while Blaze will teach me to ride a bike.
3) I taught myself to cook, and was able to make an omelette without burning the kitchen.

Blaze and I did help each other with swimming and bike riding, respectively. Though at first Blaze wouldn't accept my help To be fair, Blaze was quite the good teacher.
Alas Rocky, I did teach myself to cook - though I asked other people to teach me recipes. I never took a formal cooking class. My first adventure in the kitchen resulted in me cooking up an omelette with no mishaps.

Those who pay attention know how little respect I have for the diet industry. I admit it, though: Being human/female, I have been suckered into trying more than one fad diet. At least I can say now that it's been over a decade since I wasted my time or dollars on that b.s.

Yeah. I think a lot of it had to do with working in the office environment where I didn't have much in common with the other women there. The diet thing at least gave us something to talk about other than kids (of which I had none) and comics (about which they knew pretty much nothing, unless it was strips in the newspaper).
I never tried Atkins, FWIW. By the time I'd heard of it, I'd already been diagnosed with kidney disease, so I was smart enough to know what a dirty word "ketosis" really is.

I have been asked to do some artwork for a local charity. Not just me, but the entire life drawing club i belong to.
I have lost at least10 pounds in the past two weeks. A short bout of illness crimped my appetite for a few days two weeks ago, and I used that as a starting point to overhaul my eating habits, my exercise routine, and take some time away from beer.
After a brief foray a month ago or so, I have postponed apartment-hunting for the time being. No new apartment, although I would love to live in Kitsilano.

At my Sunday school class, we discussed heaven, hell, and death, partly inspired by a book called Banned Questions of the Bible, edited by Christian Piatt.
After church, I went to "Drawing Frenzy, a weekly gathering of artists and the odd writer (me) at a coffee house.
I finished the conclusion of my novel on Friday. Now I have only an epilogue and some clean-up tasks to deal with.

I am takng the youngest two on the Swan Boats, this Saturday. I am still not sure what I will be doing with 2 of the great niecess. I have sent them links to free concerts and outdoor movies in Boston. Hopefully one of those with strike their fancy.
I had taken all the kids (except the youngest) out to Georges Island 2 years ago (with the help of my gron nephew). The plan for the great nephew this year is to take the tour of the Freedom trail with one of the costumed tour guides. I think he will like this as he is into history, albeit more of the Civil War.

I had been planning to go see the early showig of Dark Knight Rises and then go to the gym. But I figured that is wasn't a good idea for me to bring my gym bag to the theater today. WHen I did get home, I farted around until it was too late to go to the gym. Instead, I took a walk along the Esplande where I saw some shirtless guys. With my computer's disc player actually working again, I immediately got to work generating some iTunes goodness the minute everything was plugged in/set up. So I...
1) Popped in a copy of longwave's day sleeper ep to make sure the player would play.
2) Uploaded a Quicktime update so iTunes would actually open.

I did indeed have to get a Quicktime update. Then I borrowed day sleeper from mr_cleome because I haven't heard it in ages, and it's not burned to my computer yet.
I actually had a repair guy walk me through a through a thorough cleaning of the player and speakers last month, just to make sure that it wasn't just dirt and cathair causing all my problems. (No such luck, so he sent me to another repair guy who lived further away. Now I have a new player that will hopefully last a good long time. And don't worry, IB. We drove everything there and back. I only had to walk it a combined distance of about one and a half blocks, and it's an old machine with carry handles. Whew!)

Generally you don't see shirtless guys walking around Boston except for the beach & pool. While the Esplanade is not a beach, it runs along the Charles river and so people sunbath there and a few guys jog shirtless.

I went to Mount Vernon on a family vacation to DC.
I went to the top of the Sears tower while waiting for my connecting train. On the top floor they have built these clear plastic boxes that extend out of the building. You can step out on to them. I tried, but was unable to.

Thankfully, when I was doing cardio for 3-5 hours a week, my abs did start to show. From a distance, I had a nice 4-pack.
When I first tried on contact lenses, I couldn't get the larger soft lenses in. After 30 minutes we all finally gave up, and the doc recommended the smaller hard lenses.
At the current length I have my hair cut, I can go 4-6 weeks before needing to get it cut again.

A minister actually did ask me out. Technically, she asked me to go to the theater with her at some point in the future. Very open-ended, but it works.
Last night, I saw a fireworks display just above the trees near my apartment complex. I have no idea what was being celebrated, but it was a very professional job.

I used to buy tickets 1-2 times a week. Picked up the habit from my Dad, who didn't like legalized gambling but never seemed to consider lottery tickets a part of that.
Thankfully I licked that habit by the time I hit Thirty. Supposedly more people gamble in bad times than in good, so if true that's one trend I've managed to avoid.
I'll chew a nail now and then, especially after it breaks. But that's nothing like my old habit of tearing them all off until my hands looked like they did ten rounds with The Tasmanian Devil. I did this from about Age 10 all the way to 25.
I've never jaywalked except occasionally near the house.

Greg, most schools I've been to do use the +s and -s, although a community college I went to in the 80s and 90s did not (for final grades at least). Even on the 100-scale, in Canada, the 90s are considered to be in the A+ range. 80s = As an A-s, 70s = B-range, etc, and the grading reflects this. As an undergrad doing a year in Newfoundland 4-5 years ago, I was upset to be getting 80s for work I'd get 90s (what I'd considered normal A range, 80s being Bs) for at my home U, yet was relieved to find I was still getting As.
Quis, that offer was made (Montreal is the city in question), but might not pan out after all, at least for Christmas break as proposed. Depends if she sells her house in NY state by October.

My experiences have been a little different. Neither my undergrad institution nor the two the community colleges at which I've taught use pluses and minuses. The only institution I've been to that did was my grad school. As I recall, an A+ was something like 97-100 percent, a A was 93-96 percent, and an A- was 90-92 percent, though I could be mistaken.

HWWey has it! I am actually hoping/planning to see an American band (although they first made it big in Canada, and did live in BC at one point): Heart. Alas, I also will prepare our itinerary since I'm probably the one who wants to go the most. I already have a friend's itinerary, but will have to improve upon it - when it comes to travel, I prefer to customize the plan to suit my own tastes.
My friends certaily don't seem to be cooperating - I feel like I'm the only one camping out in front of my laptop! All of them are out for the day and will book when they get home, even though experience teaches me not to wait more than 20 hours after a sale begins. I'm tempted to book my own ticket and just pray that everyone else will be able to book theirs.
Quis is correct - at first I was intending to stay up all night, but I decided to call it a night at 3AM since nobody else was ready to book anyway.

The book club did disband because the orginizer got a job that took him on the road a lot. But it looks like some are trying to reform it.
It was over a year ago when my roommate had constipation. He actually called an ambulance and I went with him in the ambulance to the emergency room. He did just sprain his back and at least this time he just went to the emergency room instead of calling an ambulance.

And as I am sure people will figure out, by bumping this it is true that my favorite vacation site is the ocean. When I was growing up, every Saturday in the summer, we would go to my grandmother's, do some chores, have lunch, then go to the beach.

I did take a trip to Alberta Street Park, and dropped my headphones on the way out the door. Luckily mr_cleome found them on the steps when we returned home.
We had lunch (chicken tacos for him, a gyro for me) and did some walking and reading (Calvin & Hobbes for him, a Joseph Cornell art book for me).
I did clip The Sid's claws, on Friday. Always an exciting project. Basically, I wait until he's dozing on the bed and then sneak up from behind wielding the clippers. I can usually get at least half his claws before he's fully awake.

I did get the bread as listed, but didn't try the hummus on it until lunch today, well after this question was posted. Therefore at the time i had no way of knowing if it went together great or not. And, it goes together well enough, but nothing I'd be so ecstatic over.
The putanesca, one of my italian specialties, will be all gone by lunch tomorrow.
The Pringles was brekkie as i was feeling down and din't even get out of bed until noon that day.

I did wake up late (9am) yesterday morning.
I normally help people on the subway. At my station, there are 2 platforms because the line splits. So inbound trains can come in on either platform. They do have a signal to let you know which platform to go to for the next train about a minute before it arrives. The stop is also the stop for the JFK Library and there are 2 hotels nearby. So it is common to see people confused as to where to go. I will explain the signal to them. I also go to the South Station stop which also has a train station and bus station. So lots of people get confused as to where to go, either going to the subway or coming from the subway. Again, I will ask if they need help and give them directions.
And it was rainy yesterday, but I took my umbrella with me. So, I was not caught without it when the rain started.

You actually can't see must of anything from the windows of the offices (I'm in a cubicle in the center of the floor). The building is small (only 8 floors) and is surrounded by buildings that are the same size or bigger.

2) Was dying for a hot buttered rum, but by the time I got to the liquor store, they were putting up the "Sorry, We're Closed" sign.

The best thing about the current job is how close it is to my home. Even taking two buses, I made it home yesterday in under 1/2 hour.
Sadly, there were no liquor stores on the bus route. I would never have made it there before closing time even if I'd gotten my pay in a timely fashion. Which I did not.

(P.S.- VL, not only did the olive pit thing really happen, get this: Earlier today, I was drinking a mocha at a local coffee place and found a piece of plastic fork tine in the bottom of the mug! I swear it's true! )

IB has it. I play in 2 D&D group. One is all gay men. The one I am playing in tomorrow is almost all gay men, but there is one heterosexual woman in the group.

I was once defriended myself by someone (who had a near-obsessive crush on me) whom I didn't invite to my birthday party. That person is very nearly a stalker, so I'm not sad about it at all.
1) I was supposed to get a haircut yesterday, but fell asleep after cooking dinner.
2) I'm supposed to bring our dog over to meet a friend's 3-month old puppy, but I'm hesitant because our dog gets very excitable.

I am converting to Multisite, it will make my site management much easier
I did setup a new studios space, in a cramped little nook. It feels VERY good there, I hope to start making new art at a decent pace now.
And no my frozen drain line is still frozen. I will be working on it again tomorrow before I go in to work.

Woot, I got it again!!
So regarding my earlier Question, I literally just got the frozen line free. Still gotta go under the house and put heat trace on it, but it works.

I did sneak in a workout, which caused me to be about 15 minutes later to work than I usually arrive.

I did go to a Zumba Thanksgiving party. I accompanied my girlfriend, who takes the class.
Every year, my church hosts a party to celebrate the turning on of the Country Club Plaza lights for the holidays. However, I did not attend this year because it coincided with Thanksgiving dinner at my brother's.

2) Rung in the New Year sick as a dog from the stomach flu.

I have (thus far) never had the stomach flu as a "grownup." mr_cleome, however, once spent New Year's Eve and most of the subsequent week in its clutches. (Back when we were living together and not married.) I rang in the New Year doing my taxes, because I was bored out of my skull and couldn't think of anything else to do. Also, I was waiting to see if I was going to catch the flu as well. (I didn't.)
One Christmas when I was a teenager working for my Mom, we really did get stuck on the highway on the way home from working at the annual party for a family in Union. Normally, the trip would only have taken a couple of hours round trip. But on the way home, a truck jackknifed thanks to heavy snow. We got stranded for hours, and the minivan my Mom owned for business had no lights in the back, or extra seats. We passed the time telling dirty jokes and trying to warm our cold hands and feet atop containers of leftover party food.
The Halloween thing is also true. I think I was eleven or twelve. My pals and I were diving into piles of leaves the weekend before Halloween, and my glasses fell off and disappeared. I tore apart the leaf pile, but never found them. Somebody probably took them as a prank. Worst. Halloween. Ever. I was the only kid who had to stay in all night.

No sense in delaying the inevitable.
I was never the hunchback. That "honor" belonged to a classmate of mine during a fifth grade haunted house party. Other kids jeered him as they went by, which was totally unfair.
The last time I went trick-or-treating, I borrowed my grandfather's felt hat and a cape from somewhere. Unfortunately, I was not able to pull off the Phantom Stranger's shadow-covering-the-face routine, which rendered the disguise ineffective.
When I was very young, I touched a used sparkler during the Fourth of July, incurring second-degree burns on two fingers and my thumb. I had to wear a gauze bandage for some time.

I've always identified with Kantner the most. I love the science fiction themes of his songs and his revolutionary stance, which he maintained long after the '60s were over. Plus he was the only consistent member of Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship from its inception in 1965 until he left in 1984--he was the one who kept the group going after Grace Slick, Marty Balin,and the rest (temporarily or permanently) abandoned ship.
I had a lengthy phone conversation with Spencer Dryden once--very nice man who answered my questions about his background and arrival into the group, and who was intrigued by the Airplane/Starship fansite for which I was writing.
"White Rabbit" is a classic, but I like at least half a dozen Airplane songs better, including "Somebody to Love," "We Can Be Together," "Plastic Fantastic Lover," and "Feel So Good."

sorry for the delay. turned out to be a buy couple of days, and last time I had checked there was not yet a winner.
Virdy has it! I do not do seafood anymore at all, as my body does not seem to react well to it anymore. No dept banquet; the most our dept does is 'pie day' once a month and the occasional sandwich trays for events. It's also a fairly young dept (for academics); not a lot of retiring going on.
I had a chicken breast stuffed with a mushroom sauce. I've been watching $ lately, but splurged (wine and dessert too). The Sept steakhouse trip was intended as a sort of 'last hurrah' before trying to go veggie, but that did not pan out (so that prior one had been a last hurrah for expensive meals for a while).
I'd also been doing without booze for monetary, eight, and general avoiding-depressants reasons, although the second half of December will likely see some breaking of that rule.
